Talking Bad Mirror!

Have you guys seen when your puppy notices his reflection in the mirror for the first time? It's too funny!

I was holding Gizmo, and I have 4 mirrors on my living room wall, and he perked up his head and started to growl a tad bit. Then he stood up and sorta cocked his head, and then his tail started wagging like crazy and he tried to get over to the mirror.

Then he sniffed it and got very confused and started to bark again! Oh what I would have given to have a video camera. It was priceless!

Not just mirrors...back at my old house, Brandy would see her reflection in the glass door at night. She used to bark at it. I wonder if she ever figured out that she was looking at herself.

Yes, Winston does that! The only dog he has ever growled at is himself in the mirror. We had taken him with us to a friend's for dinner and set his pen up in their bedroom, next to the mirrored closet doors... well, he happened to go next to his crate and you could just see him stiffen, stretch his neck to see better, and raise his hackles... He makes this hilarious low growl. I don't know why he hates himself so much! He has self-image issues.

self-image issues... that's hilarious!

I wonder if it's because they can't smell the dog... and that's why they get so upset. I'm reading "Dog Training for Dummies" right now and they say that dogs "see" with their nose, so sniffing another dog's rear end is their way of figuring out the pack order, who the dog is. etc etc etc

So I think that's why... although it's still too funny. Gizmo hasn't really been around alot of dogs (he does have a "girlfriend" though, my best friend's black and tan chihuahua) but he loves them.

Oh, it's so funny!

Oh I remember.

My 2nd favorite puppy, Sam, was in our kitchen one night and he saw is refelction in our dishwasher. He started barking and barking and barking and would not shut up! lol He did NOT like that other dog in the dishwasher and he wanted it out of our kitchen! *sigh* I miss my Sammy...I wish Mom and Dad would have let me keep both him and Rose...

And then when Rose was inside one day, she saw her refelction in our cabnit's glass door. She stopped, stared at it, and then looked at me like, "Andrea!! There is a DOG in here!!" Then she slowly creeped forward toward it, but then when she saw it move, she freaked out again and backed up. This went on for quite a while with me craking up in the background.
And then she was inside with me (she was drying after a bath), and Lassie was on T.V. She heard Lassie bark and she perked up real quick, made a little muffled bark noise, and went over to the TV like, "Where's the dog? Where's the dog?" It was so funny.
