I'm ranked #15 in Weims on SD.com
Yes, I am hopelessly addicted to Showdog.
Today is my one week anniversary of having signed up, and I looked today to see that I am #15 out of the 122 Weim breeders!! http://www.showdog.com/Breeds/dog_br...eed=Weimaraner I've got 3 pts on one boy, and a pt on one of my girls. And I have two litters coming this week! I also decided upon a second breed, Wirehaired Pointing Griffons, and I just had my litters of them today. 4 girls, 3 boys from two litters. They were my first attempt at breeding, so we'll see what we get! Thanks everybody for getting me hooked. I'm loving this! |

Hey Novel, I've made offers on 2 separate dogs, with no response. How long does it usually take to get a response? Or have you had that issue? I am very dim when it comes to this stuff, but it looks like fun. Could you give me some tips??? (yeah, I'm a dork....but only sometimes..LOL)

I'll tell ya what I know....
The owner has three days to decide to sell you the dog. If they haven't replied in that time, then the offer disappears and you'll have to offer again, or move on. It usually takes between 12 and 48 hours, in my experience so far, and I've bought all the dogs but the litters I had yesterday. I'm assuming you Forever Homed (FH) your started dogs. I've seen a few here and there that may be useful in a breeding program, but, it's really much easier to buy a nice dog. Make sure you familiarize yourself with each dog, their SOP (To figure that out use the skipwall program in the Sim Tools section on the left) and their SS (Showshine). Then, with those things in mind, look at each show you could enter and decide where your dog would place in relation to those dogs. You also want to look at what each judge takes into consideration when judging. I keep files on each dog... yup, that's right, paperwork... call me crazy, but I find this extremely interesting and ridiculously important! P.S. If you've offered on a dog, you get an e-mail in your box on the site informing you of the owner's decision, to sell or not. You can only buy dogs as long as you have money, it won't let you go negative. And establish some goals for your kennel, like SOPs under 85% get sold, show those above 87%, that kind of thing. It helps out when you only have a few sessions available each day and you want to show 5 dogs. It's better to concentrate on the few great ones, and as you finish them, move on to your harder to finish dogs, or sell or FH them and buy other dogs to finish. If you're premium, you also want to keep in mind who would be good to breed to whom, oh, and don't forget obedience. One of the first bitches I bought is kind of substandard in the show dept, so we're trying obedience. It takes lots of sessions, but once you have them all up on that first line, it's only three legs to get the CD! |

Well, let it be fun and you'll have a blast!!! It could probably be useful in getting you more familiar with the show process. Sure, you don't get to see who has already entered the show when you enter in real life, but, the game would take forever if that was the case, and you only have so much time to finish a dog on the game. 14 days - 120 days.
