Christmas shopping DONE!

Sorry, I have to brag.... I'm 99% done my christmas shopping! I'm normally one of those girls who waits until the week before christmas to do her shopping, so this is HUGE!!!

How is everyone else with their progress? Mine was kinda easy this year, mainly did gift cards, because no one in my family likes to tell me what they want, now i just have to bake the Pitzelli's, Biscotti and Genetti for my friends gifts and I am finito!

Woohoo!

I am envious . I tried to get started yesterday but the mall was a real zoo plus my son wasn't feeling well. This year we are going to concentrate on the little kids ( I'm a great aunt many times over) Christmas is really for them anyway.
Hey Tiffany, would you have any ideas about buying for an elderly lady (92 - my mother-in-law )? I thought of making a box of different items, like stamps, writting paper, hearing aid batteries, crosswords etc. it's so hard to know what to buy for her anymore. Anyways, good for you on being almost done, it will no doubt save you alot of stress later!

I've started. I have gotten a couple of things for my mother, and am finishing up shopping for my secret santa giftee from a pug forum I'm on. That has been a blast. I bought a few lovely pug ornaments for a few online pug friends that I will send out soon. And I have a few other things to buy, but I'm pretty proud of myself, I am very organized this year. Last year was chaos. LOL

This will be the very first year we are not buying gifts. Instead we are just giving a check to our sons, so yes, I'm totally finished.

Are you kidding? I'm Miss Shop-at-last-minute, only then will it truly be Christmas. All that heart pumping, people pushing, bumper to bumper driving days are a rush. "lol" One Christmas I'll have it done early!

Yup...done. Check book ready. My kids ONLY want money, so that's about it...maybe a couple of things so they have something to open. But I do need to find a little something for my folks. My Dad and Mom have everything so all they ever want is atheletic socks and Old Spice for my Dad and nice soaps or candles for my Mom. LOL. Boring.

Good for you for being so organized. Now when the real rush starts, you can sit back and enjoy the other things....decorating, baking or whatever. I use to get my shopping done by Thanksgiving too...was always organized, but not so much lately. Have a good Xmas!

Not started yet and I wish I didn't have to. I'd be a happy girl if no one bought me presents and I, in turn, didn't have to buy them anything.

Sorry, I'm one of these people who likes to pretend that xmas doesn't exist. LOL Sadly, my family doesn't hold the same dislike for the celebration as I do so I get caught up in it. Oh well...one day I'll be able to ignore the whole thing.........one day! *dreams about that day*

Cass.

I love this time of year.... Thanksgiving and Christmas.

There will be no gift exchanges this year (not the first time, but not in a bad way). There's nothing I really want. And the things I need, like new snow boots for my feet and new brake pads for my car, I'd rather take care of. I don't have the money to buy presents for everyone. And I don't want my family and close friends spending money on me just because.
Over the years, we have all turned away from gift giving and focused more on spending time with eachother. Same goes for birthdays and other holidays.
Our gifts to eachother tend to be...
... a day hike with all the dogs...
... a handknit scarf from my sister to me for my long walks in the snow...
... an Asian influenced painting from me to my martial arts nut father...
... a handmade medicine wheel or dreamcatcher from me to my mother (from whom I get my Native American blood)...
... a spa day with my sister....
...and so on....

I love this arrangement because I HATE shopping! And it takes away most of the stress associated with holidays.

My dogs are the only ones I actually shop for! They must have new toys and treats for Christmas. How crazy is that!?
This sounds really hokey, but I also ask everyone close to me to give me old stuff (blankets, towels, dog collars, etc) or spend a few bucks on new stuff for me to take to the local shelter dogs and cats.
And I usually donate a bit to a certain rescue society around this time of year, but I don't know if I can do it this year. I'll just have to lower the amount.

Sounds like I should add "And I want Peace On Earth" to this post to make it even more hokey.

Bought a few gifts this weekend, but that's about it. We have a L-O-N-G way to go before we're done. But it may not be as much effort this year. For some relatives, we're just sending them cash (money is very tight for them this year due to surgery), and for others, their gift might be a night's stay at a nice hotel. And a lot of people want gift cards. Hopefully we'll get done soon.
