My chow mix, Shiner.

Don't get me wrong, I adore Ripley, but I wouldn't get another papillon. I worry too much about how fragile little dogs are.

That's me. I like larger, more sturdy dogs. I've never really liked smaller dogs just because they're so fragile, like you said. It's nice to be able to restle and lay all over Lucky when I play with her. I could NEVER do that sort of thing with my parents English Toy Spaniel.

I'm a medium to large dog fan as well. I've had some pretty great mixed breeds in the past but I do have to say my Boxers are my all time favorite. They are just so energetic and people oriented ..and are just as happy cuddling on the couch as they are playing frisbee, or roughhousing in the backyard.

yea im deff a large dog lover, over the little guys....Right now I have two Min Pins and a Samoyed, growing up I had a Husky/Collie Mix and a Husky/ Bernese MT. mix.

I deff think adopting a mix is a great way to go, but I love my Sammy...hes got to be my fav up to this point...I want a Eng Bulldog sooooo bad....

but yea that ive owned so far my Sammy...though each of my mixes had great qualities...its a hard one.

I like so many different breeds, it's amazing that I only have four dogs. LOL. I love my Lab. She's been a terrific dog and super with the kids, so trustworthy and laid back. She's a very smart dog and so ready to learn something new.

I love my little Chihuahuas, so perky, playful and friendly. I love their demur size, although of course one has to be careful. But they also learn to watch out and get out of the way of your feet. We just got use to eachother and it's 2nd nature to me to be cautious when moving around or closing a door behind me. I don't even think about it, but know that I am watching. Funny how that works. But they're so nice to snuggle up with on the couch for TV and they're so very loyal and "into" Mom. They just live to please. And I love how they match my mood to a T.....very, very intuned with me. They can be goof balls one second and settle down on my lap the very next second if I so desire. For a toy breed, (which I never was into before) they're great....Mine aren't hyper either. I like that.

For the larger size dogs, I think now, after having this Doberman, that that would have to be my first choice from now to eternity. I've never seen a more alert, intelligent, in tune kind of dog. This boy is VELCRO, by my side most all the time. He watches me and looks like he's making sure I'm all right. If I sniff my nose, he looks intently at me. If I cough, it's like...."are you OK?" He has the most expressive face.

He seems to know what I mean at times when I can't figure how he could possibly know what I mean. It's almost eerie sometimes. He's my real, true partner, ready and willing to learn anything new that I ask him. He watches me like a hawk. And when anything untoward happens around here, he is on his feet ready to kill it. Being just a year old, he's not yet quite sure what he's suppose to do exactly, but he knows he's suppose to do something about it. LOL. It's usually an animal noise in the woods, but there was a "bad guy" incident twice and he showed his serious protective nature.

So, I love that alert, energetic, incredibly atheletic breed. I love his super affectionate, in your face nature and his regal beauty. If I could only have one dog, I suppose it would have to be a Doberman.

Carrie

But I also loved my GSDs that I had and my mutts. The GSDs that I had must have been before they started screwing them up. Now you have to be so careful where you get them. But mine were lovely, stable, intelligent.....wonderful dogs. I guess I just like the short haired Doberman but they're kind of similar in their alertness and intelligence. The Dobe is more reserved than my Shepherds were around strangers, but they were not typical of the breed which is also said to be reserved with strangers. And there's hardly anything more beautiful than a good German Shepherd IMO....except maybe a good Doberman....U-h-h-h-h.....they are almost a tie I guess. LOL. Can you tell I'm a little biased?

I think your Samoyed is beautiful too...yes, those snow dogs are all gorgeous. See what I mean? I like too many breeds. Oh, and Whippets and Greyhounds fascinate me too. If I got another dog, my family would have me locked up for sure.

Somebody up here where I live has two Siberian Huskys. Lots of people up here have snow dogs because they do those sled races here in winter. But one of these dogs name is Timber. Isn't that cool? I like that name. LOL.

Yes, there are so many cool breeds. When I look at them, I want one of each. LOL.

I think if I had to have only one breed for the rest of my life it would be the Border Collie. I love their intensity and persistence, and their desire to please. Even though I don't own one yet, I love the breed and I know that a border collie & I would make a good team.
