Thanksgiving! How was yours?

Okay, so there I was... In the kitchen, helping out with Thanksgiving Dinner. Mazie, 5 months old, was wandering around the house, chasing her ball, chewing on her toys, and just being her puppy self. She goes into the computer room to visit with my dad and when she comes out, I notice that she's staring down a paper bag that is just sitting on the floor beneath the microwave stand. She inched closer to it... closer... and then ran away in terror. I stopped everything I was doing and completely lost it. I went to go comfort Mazie and tell her that it was okay and that the evil bag was not going to hurt her... Then, to make matters worse, my brother comes in, picks up the paper bag, and starts walkin towards us.. Mazie jumps into my lap and tries to hide behind me.. After discovering she couldn't hide from it, she started barking nonstop at it. So there's my brother with a paper bag, Mazie going nuts, and me on the floor crying with laughter. My brother put the bag down and Mazie stopped barking...but she still kept her distance from it. After I contained myself, I got up to put the paper bag away, whereupon she started barking again...she even ran from me... So I threw it to the ground, kneeled down and told her to "come here" which she did. Reassured her that it was okay and that the bag wasn't going to hurt her... Just then, one of our cats runs at full speed into the bag and scoots across the floor in it....towards Mazie... Just when I got her to calm down! I about died laughing... I know it wasn't funny for Mazie, but she'll forgive me... I may have to give her extra treats, but she'll forgive me.

Dinner was awesome. Once again, I took way more than I could eat, but I did get most of it down. We had turkey, ham, yams, corn casserole, biscuits, mashed potatoes, olives, cranberry sauce and banana pudding (yum!). I'm going to wait another hour or so before I attack the pies... We've got pumpkin, banana cream, apple, and strawberry-rhubarb. Yummy! So many to choose from!

How was your Thanksgiving?

I went to Elk for Thanksgiving at my grandparents house. i was so excited my favorite aunt came up from Vancouver. It was awesome. We played trivial persuit and it was hard. Crazy questions. And my grandma put the turkey in the oven and turned the oven off and left. So when they got back the turkey was cold and we had recook it. it was funny.

Isn't it hilarious some of the silly things dogs will act out over? OC's terrified of this particular 3ftX5ft wooden board that we conveniently use to block a doorway from him. It fell on him as a puppy and now he's always very cautious of it and runs away if someone picks it up or is stepping over it. Poor guy

I had to work until 4 at which time I had to stop at my mother in laws house and chat for a while. Then run home and shower- only to find I have a great fiance and he startd to instal our outside outlet since we didnt have any (and I gotta put christmas lights up somehow). Then I went to my mom and dads to eat turkey and spoil their dog.

then we came home and watched house of wax.

We went over to Kubera's, (member of GP), so there were three dogs and seven people. It was a lot of fun

The pups were very well behaved, although they were "lurking" around all of the good smells. After dinner they got some tastie samples while we were cleaning up. Yummy!

Since my hubby wasn't home, and his family doesn't do dinner until the Sunday after, I went to a friend's house. I stuffed myself silly!! But I had to leave early, as her nephew isn't a "dog person" and started voicing his opinion about it (he is about 23) and her neice (about 21) was saying how she wanted a small dog but would keep it outside in a pen. I almost lost it! She said "But I'll have a dog house for it!" My friend just kept kicking me under the table, and in the spirit of the holidays I kept my mouth shut. But I did leave. I just couldn't stand it anymore!! Sometimes, in situations like this, it's better to keep your mouth shut. I was the "outsider" so to speak, and didn't want to ruin a good meal. Oh well, I have no doubt that after I left, my friend let them have it!! LOL

Other than that, nothing exciting. I'll be going to my in-law's on Sunday....note the excitement in my "voice"....LOL They are dog haters, too.

We went to my Grandma's house for Thanksgiving and I ate, hung out with my family, played cards, watched the dogshow (the Bull Terrier won!), and then, when I was bored out of my mind, I watched this really weird cartoon on Nick...it was on all day...I think it was called Avatar or something like that. Good story line, but I prefer normal anime over American "anime" anyday. lol

We got home around dark and after letting the dogs run around, Dad actually let them inside! (Big shocker! Dad is a "big dogs belong outside" person.) So Blackie and Rose hung out with Wes and I on the couch while we watched Finding Nemo. Rose was sitting on my lap (I was so squished), but then she eventually at in a chair by herself and Blackie fell asleep by me on the couch.
I had to put them back outside (I didn't want to though...), and since the wind chill was like 7F, I put Rose's dog coat on her...she looked at me like I was crazy. But the dogs were blocked from the wind though, so that made me feel a little bit better.

Well, you sure can't pick your family! I do find the people I pick as friends, all have dogs which are raised as family members.

My family knows my dog is well behaved, and she comes with me on holidays.

Good luck on Sunday, Bigdoglover!

minpinsrock post 'em.

I did the food and family thing. Two different friends came in from outta state. I walked Lucky around the park...it is all lit up for the holidays so it was nice. I feed the kids a great turkey dinner. I gave them the raw turkey neck. Fallon had no idea what to do with it, it was funny. She kept cautiously biting it with just her little front teeth. The other two crunched away. I went to a friends house after that then watched cartoons at my house. It was a nice day.
