Mine lives to play frisbee. The other thing she likes is if she has some type of large ball (right now she is using a basketball) to herd around the yard. My daughter likes to say Cocoa is playing soccer.

I have a portable agility jump, a kids play tunnel, and some weave poles that we use in the yard. Our yard is tiny and unfenced, and often bordered by a rottweiler and two bully mixes on tie-outs that Hippo just loooooves to play with.

I'll also sprinkle her breakfast in the grass and let her find it all.

Frisbee, of course... chasing geese is another favorite.

Rosie likes to play fetch and run laps around the pool trying to catch my whippet mix.

I'm hoping to introduce her to the frisbee soon. Last time I tried she was too little and couldn't pick it up or catch it lol.

We have tried to play catch with Sigmund, but whatever we throw (ball, lambskin frisbee, treat, etc.) just bounces off of his head! He doesn't seem to be able to get the hang of it!

Great ideas all! Baxter is cattle dog/bassett mix, so with his short legs/long back he shouldn't play frisbee. Since he's part hound I've been trying to get him to trace a scent but Rusty gets in the way. I'm looking for more backyard activities (& indoor activities since the rainy season is coming).

We put a big purple playground ball in the backyard and watch the dogs go nuts!! Nothing gets a good laugh like Corgi Soccer!! (Duchess is by far the best player out there....I think the ice cube hockey in the kitchen helped perfect her game lol). They get really carried away though and you have to watch out for the windows and any spectators take responsibility for any stray shots that ricochet off them.

indoor activities we play are hide and seek- probably much easier for a hound mix than for my two. Crack the wip: I sit on my wheeled computer chair and Sammy tugs a tug tiy flinging my around while Rosie barks and muzzle bops him in the belly. We laugh our heads off at this game. We also still do retrieve inside and go weeves and one jump work in my basement. Back when they were kibble fed that got their food in a tricky treat ball for fun.

We also do many of these activities for our bordercollie/visla/lab mix. She's gotten quite good at catching a ball, loves fetch and tug, chasing and being chased by our cocker. She also loves learning things and is really quick.

She does, however, try to "herd" us. LOL it's really funny watching her try to herd our flock of budgies and cockatiels

My dog absolutley loves playing this game!! I break up a biscuit into small piecies and hide them around the room, then I have her sniff them out and find them. She also loves her little soft ball, and her squeaky toy. An outdoor activity that my dog likes to do is just run around the yard. Of course your dog has to be trained or you have to have a fence, but even so it is great exercise for them.

keira loves playing ball, chasing frisbees, and she runs around chasing a soccer ball. When my son is outrside, she "herds" him! he runs, she follows. Its kinda funny to watch. He gets a kick out of it. He yells, "get me dog" over and over. And she keeps on him. If he gets too far away from me, ill say "get back here you two". And sh'll bring him back. Im not even sure she does it intentionally. He just likes to have her follow him. but I like to think that she herds him! LOL.

We play fetch pretty often, there's woods on the side of the farm property and we'd go through there, he'd find those logs and use it as a jumping tool We also do some agility as well, sometimes when he sees a rabbit or squirrle he'll go chasing it trying to herd it but of course they always get away, if the squirrle goes up the tree he'll start barking cause he can't get to it, it's funny to watch. Indoors we play games like hide and seek with his toys, and he has this kong that i stuff goodies in and he'll mess with that for awhile...

I have a Rough Collie that is not very good at agility. The most she will do is run around our back yard once in a while.
