Cool

Here I am. lol.

Yes I have a blue merle rough collie. Her name is Kota Blue Storm. Her birthday was just yesterday

Before my breed of choice was Huskey's. I still love them but I've become very fond of collies. When I first started out I was looking for collie rescues. Every shelter who had collies advertised said that they were already taken. Except for one collie all the way in Bowling Green, Ky. Thats about 400 miles from me!. He was a 2 yr old Tan & White male. I went to see him and was happy with what I saw. He was good with children, housebroken, good with her cats. Overall very well mannored and LOVED attention. I adopted him and brought him home. I was concerned about introducing him to my cats so I took it slow. I locked the cat that I thought would freak up and brought out Anne. She's never had a bad experience with a dog and doesn't run from them. Everything went fine. Then I was satisfied and brought out Squeekers. Squeekers was attacked by one of my huskeys and a couple other stray dogs. So he's not so friendly toward dogs. His only good experience with dogs was a huskey pup we had named Spirit. Anyway, as soon as Tanner (the collie) and squeekers met, squeekers bolted. Tanner saw him as pray and went after my kitty. We tried for a couple weeks to get everyone to just be friends, but it just wasn't working. I took Tanner back and took one of her puppies. Thats Kota. Kota is a great dog and best of all...leaves squeekers alone. Kota is best friends with Anne and will groom her! lol. I wouldn't trade her for the world.

Awww your Kota is adorable!!! I hope she had a very happy birthday. I love Blue Merles, they are gorgeous, I wish that my Sally was a Blue Merle.

Yeh she had 2 blue merles. My mother use to breed collies back in the 70's and the merles were her favorite. She went with me to get Tanner and we ended up getting a puppy for her too..OF course it was a blue merle. I didn't think her other merle would be there when I took tanner back but she was. So Kota gets to see her sister Kayla all the time. My mom brings her over during the week so they can play. Kayla has a different coat though than Kota. Kayla's lays back more. She sort of resembles a short coated collie.. However its long, just doesn't lay like a long coat.

Blue Merles are my favourite! They are beautiful. Sally has an odd coat like that, too. Its not short, but its not all that long, either, and it doesn't seem to flow like the Collies I see in the show ring and stuff, but I love her nonetheless.

I own 4 Rough Collies
Oliver who is a 8 year old Tricolor male who does agility and competes in sheepdog trials, Grind who is a 5 year old Blue Merle Male who competes in agility and herds at home for fun, Maisy who is a 3 year old (4 in a week though !!!) Sable and white female who competes in agility and sheep dog trials, Scout a 1 Year old (turned 1 two months ago!!!) Sable and White male who is training to compete in agility alreayd has in a couple puppy comps around here and did really well he resembles "Lassie" I hate to say it but he does.

We then recently got a female Smooth Collie puppy named Jacks who is now 5 months old and working on some agility training. Undecided on wether we will try her in sheep trials or not.

I owned a rough collie, Bandit for almost 13 years. He in his youth he was beautiful. Unfortunately, he recently passed. I will always remember him as my childhood buddy!

I'm sorry you lost him, LuvMyPups.... It's always really tough when you lose a pet, especially one that you grew up with. I've never had to experience losing a dog, but unfortunatly I will one day.

WorkingCollieDog, your Collies sound very active! I always wanted to own a Smooth Collie, are their temperments exactly like that of the Rough?

Collies

Hello!

I own a rough sable merle collie. He's currently a year and 6 months, and we do conformation mostly. However, we just started working a little in agility and he LOVES it. His name is Kody.

I own a collie as well. She is a sable-merle Rough Collie named Callista of Blue Water Bay. She is my walking buddy and pet. *bad breeding made bad temperment* ~.~
