Hey, I have a mahogany sable and white rough male named Ryan and I am waiting for my new tri-colored rough male to come home. We haven't named him yet. I'm leaning toward Duncan, after The Highlander, yummy. But my hubby doesn't like it. We also have 2 coonhound girls, treeing walker/catahoula. So I guess that they are 1/2 herding dogs, but they don't act like it.
I have had rough collies, my whole life and know in my heart that they are the perfect breed for me. Beautiful, easy to train, great w/ kids, . . . what more could a girl want. LOL. I'ld love to talk w/ people about their collies. I'm in MO and it's not a huge collie state, especially the northern area, where I am. I'm going to get pics as soon as it warms up and dries out. Ryan is a mudball. ![]() -Mindy |

I must admit my first love is the rough collie, but because of their size and the restrictions of the mobile home park I live in for six months out of the year I have settled on shelties as my breed of choice. They are similar in needs and have the same health issues even though they are completely different breeds.

I almost got a sheltie. My hubby and I like in a 4 rm apartment until we get our house. I was seriously considering either a sheltie or an aussie. But then I decided that I didn't want all of the worries that go along w/ a smaller dog in the house. If we wanted to go somewhere for a few days, I can take my girls out to my mom's and build a temp pen for them and they will be ok. In fact, when we move, so do they. Right outside.
We're buying a kennel for them. I'm sure that while they love us and all, they will love being outside and able to run more. My bet is that all they will miss is our bed - my hounds are bed hogs. LOL. -Mindy |

Hi, everyone, I also own a collie. She is a 10 1/2 year old rough collie but she is quite small. She meets most height requirements but is only around 40 pd. We leave food out for her but some days she skips meals. Besides that she is as healthy as can be.
Sorry I can't get pictures right now but if I could I would love to post!! |
