Collies

Hey, I hardly ever post on this board, but I come here quite often, and think it's a lovely board, and I'm going to try to get more involved.

I was just wondering if anyone here owns a Collie. I do, her name is Sally, and she is a purebred 5 year old Rough Collie, who I spoil and treat like a sister! I have fallen for the breed, and am just curious to see if anyone else owns one!

i own a sheltie... like a mini collie! lol i love the herders so smart and intelligent.... SalemWitchChild owns a Collie....

Shelities are great dogs! I love them SO much, they are like mini Collies! The Sheltie in your avatar is gorgeous!

Awww thanks minpinsrock, I like Aussies alot, too.

To make things easier, I love herding all dogs!! Forget that, I love all dogs!

Salem has a Collie named Kota. I haven't seen her around in quite a while..

Herding breeds are the best.

I have a Border Collie. (Quite different from collies in temperament and appearance, but considered a 'collie' nonetheless)

Your Collie is adorable.

I have a Border mix. Most BC....great dog, very sweet and cuddly but ready to go on a 10-mile walk any time.

lol. I have to say that herders are very good looking dogs. I've always been impressed by Rough Collies, but I don't think I'd ever own one--that coat!! My girl is giving me enough fur to clean up THANK YOU.

Actually, a well-groomed collie isn't a heavy shedder at all. The heaviest shedders I've seen have been Labs, GSDs, etc. Dogs with that kind of coat.. Oddly enough Dakota doesn't shed much at all.

Sally's shedding isn't much of a problem, I think that if a dog is used to regular grooming sessions from when it's still a puppy, the dog doesn't seem to mind much.

But she HATES baths!

Yeah, I understand that with grooming a dog won't shed much, but I am not very patient with grooming, LOL!! Tippy shed her winter coat--

! Collie, Sally is a cutie. Rough Collies are a gorgeous breed.
