Our newest addition....

Will most likely be a German Shepherd Dog, which I plan on training in Search and Rescue or Schutzhund. (Both are demanding, so it would be one or the other)

I looked into getting a rescued GSD, but I just don't feel comfortable with it, because I'm picky when it comes to choosing a working dog (the main reason I didn't get a rescue papillon) and *I* want to be the one to do the socializing, and a puppy is a lot like a blank canvas..

So, when I say "The future dog", I mean this one...

I have a german shepherd, about to turn 10 years old. He is the most amazing dog! We simply adore him! So smart, healthy, eager to please, protective, easy to train, & the house training is so simple with this breed! (was with mine anyways). They are gorgeous...I think you have made an excellent choice for a new dog! My dog took two obediences courses. He finished 1st place in his first class & 2nd place in the next class. He also was awarded his "canine good citizen award" at an AKC event.
You will not be disappointed with this breed!
Good luck! :-)

My grandmother used to have a German Shepherd she was great, so tolerant of everything. My aunt has a 10 month old german shepherd and he's huge, I mean gigantic, and full of energy but they live on a big farm so it's great for him...and them.
