I guess I will put this here, since I have a beagle....
Well tonight on Zoe and my walk we had 2 encounters with large dogs on the way home. as we were leaving the park and heading down my street a guy and his kids were i guess taking the trash out. They had one on leash and one off. I think the one off leash was well trained. it pretty much ignored Zoe but the one on the leash started barking at her, but Zoe did pretty good, she kept wanting to turn around though. Anyways I was a few houses down from my house at the end of the block and the people across the street had 3 dogs outside off leash. 2 big, 1 small. one of the big ones ran across the street and the guy yelled at him but it didnt listen and the little one came across to. Zoe did pretty good and just sat there, but the guy came over and grabbed the big one by the collar to take him home, the little one shortly followed. He then preceded to yell at the dog in his driveway and kept smacking his nose! I felt so bad for the dog! He shouldnt have just been letting them all outside like that off leash. Anyways. I am proud of Zoe, on the way home I held the leash short and she walked beside me without hardly any pulling! She does much better on the way home cuz she gets tired. But yesterday on our walk, it was soo funny cuz she got on a scent. and she was going crazy wiggling her way all over. that is the only time I have ever seen her on one like that... Anyways....sorry this is soo long!! Just thought I would share |

Good Job Zoe handling the big dogs. I hate it when big dogs run out, you never know what might happen to you or your dog.
I agree that guy had no right having 3 dogs outside unleashed. What an idiot! |

I had the same incounter one time when i took freckles (dachsund) and piper (husky) for a walk. i went up the street and this HUGE dog came up to me with no leash/collar on, the parents were inside and only 2 lil kids out side, they were at the oldest 2 and 4. well any way the dog got right up in pipers face and piper got angry with it and snipped.i was so scared all i could do was stand there because i didnt know how aggresive the dog was. The parent came out, looked at me then went back to talking on the phone!!
I got so angry, i made the comment "there is a leash law, please follow it!!" and walked off, dont get me wrong, if the dog was well behaved and stayed in the yard than i wouldnt have a prob but obviously that aint the case. poor freckles got behind me and hid!! the owners obviously didnt care... |

Yeah, the same thing happened to me, I was walking my dogs Bonnie and Clyde, and down the street from our house on the outsides of our subdivision is this lady who has two dogs and the black dog is pretty good about staying in the yard and keeping quiet but the brown dog runs accross the street and barks at me when ever I am walking my dogs... the last time poor little Bonnie almost backed out of her collar she was so scared.

What a jerk !
Some people geeez I'd love to smack him on the nose and see how he likes it . Great job Zoe Maybe the guy just needs to see how great owners act like. I'd kill him with kindness and make sure to show Zoe off and set a good example in front of him. Maybe one day it might sink into his head what a jerk he is. ![]() |

So the dog is back in his driveway and gets beat up for being where he should be.....real smart guy. Now what's the dog to think? Being in my own driveway in front of my owner is dangerous. I better go back into the street. (?) Dumb, dumb, dumb. Poor dog.
Zoe was a good girl. Wouldn't it be nice if he asked you how you trained your dog? Boy, you could really let him have it. |

You did a great job! You must be proud of Zoe! That guy shouldn't of done that. I couldn't imagine hitting my dogs to get my "point" across! Dogs will be dogs, and if that owner can't handle it then he should not have dogs!
