Hound Group Dogs in the Hound Group were developed to hunt by scent or by sight. Hounds are generally sweet and loving with people.

Found IG or Whippet
I found an IG or Whippet running around my neighborhood. She's white with grey patches, and dark grey ears. No tatoos in her ears. Very skinny, where her hip bones are showing, dirty teeth, and real long claws. She's wearing a blue coat, which smells like oil, and there are burs on her coat. If you know who this dog belongs to, please email me at ::Mod Edit - Please don't post personal email addresses in the public forum. Members can PM you for information::. I refuse to take her to the pound, as being a stray she'll only have 4 days to live. I know this is an expenxive dog, so until her home is found, she will be living with me.
Will post a photo of her tomorrow.

It sounds like maybe she's been on the run for awhile. I would check/post on IG and Whippet boards as well as Craigslist and petfinder.com to let people know you've found her and see if anyone's been looking for her.

The pics are kinda small, but it looks like a whippet to me. I don't know of any lost in the area, but will send a notice out to some whippet people I know. Thanks for helping this baby out! Can you take her to a vet or shelter to see if she's microchipped?

She's got an appoitment with my vet tomorrow, to be scanned for a chip. I also put in a found ad in my local newspaper, which will run for 7 days.
Thank you KennelMom, for posting on the Whippets-Board and Forum for me. I have also posted on petfinder.com and craigslist.
Even though I do not own her, I had to give her a temporary name, and I have named her Emma. I went out and purchased her a lavender collar and purple leash, as I do not have a fenced in yard for her.

Emma aka April has gone home. I was waiting on a phone call from Chris from GreyHeart Greyhound rescue that was helping me locate this dogs family. He finally called me and gave me the Humane Societies phone number to get in contact with the owners. The owners came to my house and picked up April (the Whippet) and took her home. She went home with Nature's Variety canned dog food, the lavender collar and purple leash.
I asked the owners that if they go out of town, to keep me in mind, to doggie sit for them, and they said, Yes.
April is 12 yrs. old and deaf, so she wouldn't have heard a car honking at her. I'm glad I helped this dog, for the time that I had her.
Just wanted to let everyone know that April has gone home.
