Future Papillon Owner!!

I already have two dogs, but I'm seriously looking forward to getting a Papillon or a Phalene. But Papillons are expensive and my parents won't pay over 400 dollars for a pet. And I could never make that much money. Anyways, I'm very happy to be joining Globalpaw!

Welcome to Global Paw! Don't worry if you can't afford your dream dog right now (neither can I ). Just enjoy the ones you have (what breeds are they, by the way?) and save your pennys, do plenty of research and get to know some breeders and other papillon/phalene owners in the mean time.

We actually have another Papillon owner here called 'Rip's Girl' (Ripley is her Pap).

Cass.

Hey, welcome! Good breed choice! What kind of dogs do you have now?

I know what you mean.. Paps tend to be a bit pricey, but what's most important is that you buy from a good breeder, even if it does cost a bit more. My Papillon was a couple hundred dollars less than most that I'd seen, but I have spent thousands on him for the problems we've encountered due to his poor breeding. He really is an awesome little dog, though, really bright and active.

In the meantime, while you are hoping to get a Pap:
Go to dog shows, watch the Pap ring.. Talk to some breeders, just generally get to know the breed. Meet as many Papillons as you can and if possible, try to get to know their owners/breeders. It'll greatly help to have those references when you can get a Pap.
