Talking Hi! im a Newbie

Hi im new here, obviously otherwise i wouldn't be posting here. I have a love for the Lassie dog (Rough Collie) since i was very young and dream of owning one. I don't currently own any dog as of yet as im currently looking for some stable work but nothing seems to be available locally and i just don't think it's wise getting a dog yet, but a little research would go a miss lol

I have a passion for working with dogs and would love to work for a charity such as Dogs Trust or Guide Dogs as a trainer and work myself up or something similar

I look forward to getting to know everyone, does anyone on the board own any Rough Collies as i would like to know a little more about the breed and who better than those that own them

Hello and welcome to GP! I own Giant Schnauzers, and never owned a collie, but I'm sure someone here can help you out.

Its great you are being realistic about your situation, and we look forward to hearing about your progress towards a new addition, and all about them when they arrive!

Welcome to GP !!
I agree, not every one does what your doing.. I know some one who got a puppy(for free) and didn't have any money(at all) but still got the pup.. My mom and I helped them out by giving them a small bag of food , 6 cans of pedigree and a care guide.. Its really good that your being this responsable and assiting your situation befor making the comitment of a new pup.. Good for you !! Wish I could be of some help but I'm afread I haven't had the pleasure of owning a Rough Collie- very beautiful dogs tho !!

Hi RoughCollie, welcome to Global Paw!
I agree with the others, I think you're doing the right thing by waiting a bit before you get a dog. Very wise! In this time you should try and reasearch as much as you can (but I bet you've already done that!).

Welcome!

I own a Rough Collie, a sable merle. His name is Kody.

They are a truly special breed. So smart and gentle, but are total clowns, they love to make people laugh.

Best of luck with your search,
Cinthia

Could someone PLEASE, PLEASE tell me where to get an owner's manual for my dog???? Will it tell me how often I should get her oil changed?

Just good-natured teasing here....there's plenty of breed guides out there, just never heard it referred to as an owner's manual. Only time I get one of those is when I buy a new car!

Hello and welcome!

My grandparents own a collie mix. She is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met. Very mellow and laid back.

Good luck and hope to see pics when you're prepared.
