Newbie here!
Hello all! My name is Sarah, and I am 16 years old. I live in Jupiter, which is in Palm Beach County. On a few other forums I'm nick named Icy. LOL Anyhow... I have two female Siberian huskies. These two girls are absolute joys, and I have never seen such a difference in personality between these two.
![]() Sheiba, is 2 1/2 years old. She is about 35 pounds. She's very sleek, skinny, and petite. She's the alpha in the dog status, but of course knows that humans are higher. We like to call her Miss Priss, because she acts like such a girl. She doesn't like to sit outside if it's hot out... unless someone it outside with her. But she loves to run, regardless of how hot it is. She's strong and bold for being quite the princess she is. She has AKC papers, but they were never turned in by her previous owners. I am actually going to write to the breeder (address is on her papers) to let them know of ownership change. Anywho... She is so docile in personality, but she's always so bright and spunky. She likes to run from the broom, and hates little yappy dogs. If the dogs are quiet, and like to be chased, then she is okay with it, but no dog should ever give her sass. She gets into fights with her sister when they both come into heat, but we are planning to get them spayed as soon as we get the money to do so. She actually got into a fight with a neighborhood dog that was off leash, and the owner knows her dog doesn't like big dogs. So needless to say, her dog was left pinned to the ground by Denali, who I will introduce next. Sheiba LOVES little kids.. as well as people. She would actually prefer human contact than doggies, but would be lost without her brother and sister. ![]() Denali is a big girl. She's 50 pounds, but healthy. She isn't fat, all muscle. She is as strong as my boxerXGSD. She's 1 1/2 years old. She is a complete clown... such a difference in personality from Sheiba. Denali is not afraid of anything! Besides the board we use to gate off the kitchen. LOL But she will take on any challenge. She's the 'annoying little sister' in the dog pack. She loves to annoy Sarge the most. Once Sarge starts baring his teeth, she does her Chubaka impression with her teeth showing and smacks him in the face, which makes Sarge even madder (is that a word? LOL). She loves to sun bathe... she will sit outside in the hot weather for 3 hours or more. She as well likes to run, but mostly likes to pull. She'll get into a racing match with Sheiba if they sneak out the door, and then that's when the fun comes in with chasing them down! Denali likes just about any dog, unless it gives her lip (like the neighborhood dog). She will happily play with any dog, and loves people... especially kids. She's a whirl wind, but wouldn't be given up for the world. Alot of people think she is a male, and I simply reply, nope.. she's a girl too, just a big one, and the youngest even though shes twice the size of the other. She has actually shown signs of being protective... she has been socialized well, loves people, and is in contact with people all the time. But I have found out that I'm not the only sibe owner with "semi-protective" sibes! The two girls I take out on my skates. I like to call them the Florida sleddogs! They LOVE to run, and a lot people comment how I have the dogs doing the work for me, but its' what they were bred for, and gets them worn out for one thing! The currently know: "Okay let's go!" (Kinda like saying Mush!), "Left", "Right", "Steady" and "Whoa". I had some trouble at first because Denali was trying to compete and be in front... and Sheiba wouldn't have it! ![]() I also have a Boxer/GSD named Sarge... He's a big big baby... and MY baby. He's very protective of me, and goes nuts if I am not home. Most people are afraid of him by his appearance. Sarge is 6 years old and about 78-80 pounds. He's all muscle, but I still call him Fat Boy He loves to hunt for squirrels and lizzards. He loves kids, but can be warry of adults, and some boys... he doesn't like the neighborhood boys, besides two that always come over to see the dogs, and one of them i babysit for. The one I babysit for has a boxer pup who is 6 months old and probably at about 50 pounds, and is so strong.. you have no idea! LOL Anyhow.. .Sarge likes other dogs at first, but doesn't like hyper puppies, hyper dogs, or other male dogs. He absolutley hates bikes, motorcycles, mopeds, etc. And has on occassion tried to take on an 18 wheeler. He used to be very poorly socialized when we got him. He bit one kid on the butt who rode by on the bike. My mom and I then decided to buy a muzzle for him, and we took him out to places to socialize him. He is now the nicest dog to anyone unless told to do otherwise. He can be intimidating, because if you are afraid of him, he obviously senses it and will raise his ears, and try to scare you LOL But he wouldn't hurt a fly unless, like I said, told to do other wise. I've channeled his over protectivness into commands. Took a lot of work, but I wouldn't change him for the world now. He has a new trick that I just tought him "Chair" where he will stand on this black stool we have, and give me his paw. I'm currently working on "Touch" with him, to get him to when I point to something and say "Touch" he'll of course, do the obvious, and touch! LOL Denali is currently at the vet now She has been having a 'snorting' problem. Like when someone is try to get a 'loogey' out of their nose. She does it for about 30-40 seconds straight, and was taken in about 2 weeks ago for it. She was put on meds, but they aren't helping. So she may have a scope done today, and might have to be sent to a specialist. I hope she is going to be okay All I can think about is the negative things running through my head! But i guess that's what happens when you love your furries so much! I just hope it is something 'fixable'. Sorry for rambling! I just love to talk about my babies! I hope to hear from other doggie lovers here as well! |
