Welcome, I'm not far away either as I live in South manchester.

Your dog looks really cute, I just hope that you didn't pay a fortune for the silly name though. not getting at you but I'm sick of all these "poo's" that are popping up! Whooops, I put two o's instead of 2 p's at first, he, he.

HI there,

I dont think i paid a fortune but you and more probably will not liking the poos..

I paid £275 for her, yeah its alot for a mongrel but i dont care, i had a springer that cost me £150 as a pup KC reg with a great pedigree, i had her till she was 5 months old and had to let her go i have several health problems which got worse and prevented me looking after her properly and giving her the exercise she needed and i didnt want her to suffer, i got £335 for her, so i had enough for maisie, chipping, and jabs so i still ended up with a lovely dog, chipped and jabbed without spending any more of my money if you see what i mean ,i had only forked out the original £150..i dont regret a penny it dosnt matter that shes not a pedigree i dont love her any less than i did the springer.

I did want to get a rescue dog form out local RSPCA kennels but i was turned down as i have eplilepsy and was told i would be "A LIABILITY TO THE DOG!" bloody cheek!!!, i tried another rescue centre and they meant the same but put it more politely so i gave up and got maisie .

My vet said she hates this attitude toward the poos, they have several in thier practice and they have far less health problems than the pedigrees and in alot of cases have a better temprament..she thinks.. and i have to agree that its just snobbery on some peoples part not liking them , at the end of the day a dog is a dog and if your gonna have one you will love it and look after it to the best of your ability no matter who or what its parents are.

It's not snobbery when some people are charging £1,000.00 for these mixes. A lot more than pedigrees.

How can vets say that they are healthier? Labradoodles are only just being hipscored over here but they have a high hipscore for some of the dogs, so what they say isn't right about them being healthier. Also people are realising that they are still allergic to them as no dog is hypo-allergenic. I look forward in 20 years when there's been enough crosses done and I doubt then that they will say that they are healthier.

At least your dogs breeder asked a reasonable price which I'm pleased about and isn't ripping people off like some of these "crosses" are.

Due to Poodles being so intelligent and Jack Russel's I wonder whether there's any way that you could train your dog to recognise when you may not be feeling too good or make you aware tbat you may be due to have a seizure?

It also makes me sick how rescue homes etc. stop people with certain life styles and illnesses from owning dogs when more than likely they will have a lot more to offer than the stay at home mum, who doesn't really put that much into the dogs etc. Whereas people like yourself would put your heart and soul into them!!!

OH AND BY THE WAY I'M NOT AGAINST CROSSES JUST AGAINST PEOPLE WHO EXPLOIT THE GENERAL PUBLIC INTO PAYING STUPID PRICES FOR THEM!!

£1,000? flippin eck, i had no idea some were charging that!! its madness..

i dont know anything about hip scoring on labradoodles etc, its not something i have read up on....maybe our vets havnt seen any problems in the poos/doodles etc yet...as for the allergies i dont believe ANY dog will ever be hypo allergenic unless it has no fur atall and then i think some allergies are caused by the skin?

I thought about that and asked my epilepsy nurse if she knew anything about it, she told me that they only train thier dogs, like guide dogs they do it from a young age..it costs over £1,400 to train each dog aswell ..its a shame cos im sure she knows when im feeling ill she dosnt leave me alone like shes checking on me...i wonder if she can sense it?

I was realy mad when i was turned down for a rescue on the epilepsy..i never take maisie for a walk alone,i live in a bungalow so no stairs to fall down, both front and back gardens fenced off properly and i never have her near me if ive got a hot drink.. id say shes safer than some babies!!

I apologise for thinking you was against crosses i took it thats what you meant in your original post ..i consider myself told off hehe..walks of blushing;0)
