Hi / Hello

I'm new to the site, will try to learn how to properly navigate it as time goes on. I recently lost my little pal and I'm trying to find another
just like her. She was a Cairn Terrier - Toy Poodle mix. The coolest little dog in the world (too me) I can't seem to find anyone near my home town who's breeding them. My pal was bred by my cousin who
had the parents but both have since passed. My pal was with me for twelve years. If anyone knows of someone ( bredding correctly )
who would have this breed could you please lead me in that direction.
Her temperment was AWESOME and I miss her more then anything,
( I even keep her rabies tag hanging from the rearview mirror of my truck ) I'm still not sure I'm ready to get another pup just yet BUT if
I find another of her breed I think that would work for me. I'm going to try to post a pic and if works you can see how beautiful she is/was

Thanks ALL in advance for any and ALL help .... Pets are people too..
( ya they are )

Welcome to Global Paw!

I'm so sorry you lost your best mate. I hope you find another great friend in the future, but a word of warning. No one who breeds mix breeds on purpose is a responsible breeder. Also, the temperament your pal had was pot luck. You'll probably never find another dog of the same mix with the same temperament and certainly not the same personality. Like people every dog is completely different from the next.
If you are interested in getting the same mix or a similar mix...I recommend looking at Cairn Terrier & Poodle rescues instead of looking for someone purposely breeding. You'll be saving the life of a pet that really needs your help.
There are such wonderful dogs in rescues and shelters. I know, my own dog was in a shelter when I found him and he's the best dog I've ever had.

Whoops...sorry to turn this into a long 'pro-shelter' post. Just wanted to help you out.

Cass.

Welcome to GP! So sorry to hear about your loss.

I have to agree with Cass though, if it's a mix you want, rescue one!!!

I agree witht he others, don't buy from a person who is mixing breeds go to the rescue and buy a dog from there. People who cross dogs intentionally are just in it for the money and not for improving dogdom!

Hello and welcome to Global Paw! I'm so very sorry to hear of your recent loss, it's never easy to lose a good friend and I know all too well how difficult it can be.

I don't know of anyone breeding this particular mix but you may have better luck finding what your looking for through petfinders. They have a great search engine with tons of homeless dogs just waiting for a second chance at life. Best of luck on your search.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your little friend .
Since it's not really a breed, but a mix that your looking for I'm afraid you are probably going to have a diffilcult time finding one. The shelters and rescues would probably be your best bet. Please don't take this the wrong way, but all dogs mixed or pure are different. Be aware that even if you do find one of these mixes it doesn't mean that the dog will be just like yours was. Especially when you start mixing breeds. Perhaps your wonderful little dog had the perfect combo of each breed, but that doesn't mean that every cairn poodle mix is the same. You could end up with the worst of each breed, and that would not be a good combo! My brother in law just paid $1200 dollars for a golden/poodle (I refuse to call it a "doodle") because he thought it would have the best qualities of the golden retriever, combined with the non-shedding poodle coat. Well unfortunatly for him the dog sheds enough in one day to make a quilt by the end of the week! There is just no way to determine what you will get.

Once again I'm sorry to hear that you beloved friend is gone.
I wish you the best of luck in finding your new companion!!

Lindsey

Sorry to hear about your previous pet. Like everyone else said, try petfinder or the local shelter, you may find a mix you like better. If you do find someone that would/has/will breed that cross on purpose, I suggest not getting a puppy from them. **wink**

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'm aware that it's the luck of the draw with a dog's temperment but I have to admit I lucked out with
my last little pal. What I miss the most is her greeting me when I got
home from work,it didn't matter what she was doing or who she was hanging with, once she heard my voice ( or my truck beep ) ALL
bets were off and she would just get to the door too meet me. It was
like how Dino greeted Fred, just hey Dad's home...... lol....

I will try checking a couple of shelters and such around my area, one
of the problems though is one of the shelters is located at the animal hospital that wouldn't help me with my dog when she was sick without my coming up with a BIG upfront payment just for the blood work. I don't think I can ever forgive them for their crappy treatment
looking for $ first then the treatment of the animal. BUT I will do a search at a couple of places too see if there's a little pal at one looking for a great home. Thanks once again for all your replies..

Sorry to hear about the loss of your furpal!

Here is a link to petfinder for cairn terriers in MA. Although I didn't see any mixed with poodle there are alot of cuties listed.

http://search.petfinder.com/search/search.cgi

edit: I just checked it and it doesn't bring you directly to the link I thought it would but you can easily navigate to it from there.

Welcome aboard! I can only echo what everyone has already said! I know how it is to have that one special dog in your life. I just recently (a few months ago) had my Boxer/GSD PTS due to health problems. He was a GREAT GREAT dog... wonderful combo of both breeds, but my luck in finding a mix like him is like finding a needle in a hay stack. I've searched dogster for the mix just to see what the others were like, and most of them had really bad temperment problems (i.e. didn't get along with strangers, didn't like other dogs). Maybe some day I will come across his mix again.... but I can never replace his personality/temperment.

I wish you the best of luck in your search!
