Hello!
Hello everyone! hope everyone's doing good my names Glenn. I live in Wales (UK), although sunny at the moment... usually raining. I am currently in education at the moment and live with my parents still (unfortunately lol) and also share my bedroom with a CKCS called "Holly" who is 7 and is a little star. I hopefully would like a career with dogs, especially working for charities such as Canine Partners or Dogs for the Disabled as i would very much like to become a Assistance Dog Trainer and give something special to people who are less able than others.
I look forward to getting to know everyone, and if anyone has any tips on maybe getting myself on the right path of becoming a Assistance Dog Trainer i would be most greatful or should i request this as a new thread?. Anyway, nice to meet everyone Glenn aka. CleverK9 |

Hi and welcome to GP. Your goal sounds very nice and I hope you reach it. There are not enough trainers now, and people are having to wait a very long time before getting a companion dog. Good luck and keep us up on progress.

Welcome aboard!
You may start a new thread on this matter in the GlobalPaw section of our forum. You will probably get many more replies that way. Do you have any pictures of your CKCS?? |

Welcome to GP, Glenn!
I'd love to see pictures of your CKCS as well. Cavs are such adorable little dogs. Good luck with your choice of career as well. I'm sure you'll do well. We have a few trainers on this site who I'm sure can give you a few tips if professional training (whether it be for assistance dogs or not) is what you're aiming for as a career. One in particular, Flyndog, has just published a book in fact. Perhaps she could give you a bit of advice? Cass. |

Hi Glenn, welcome to Global Paw!
![]() I suggest you get in some work experience at a shelter/kennel first. You'll gain a great deal of experience being able to look after so many different types of dogs, and I'm sure the shelters are always looking for extra hands to help them out. Then you can progress into finding a dog training organisation to work with, and with your prior experience of working with dogs you'll look like a great candidate to work with them. Good luck with everything! ![]() |
