Smile Thanks for this site! Newbie here

Just found this site, and I am glad I did!!! This is great, I was about to buy a new puppy from Snookumspets.com and now after reading some posts on here...i'll stick to my local SPCA and keep looking. Snookumpets sounds horrible!!!

Thanks again.

Monique

Try pet finder as well, there are a ton of rescues on there.

Hi, and welcome! I'm new too...about 2 weeks old. Do you know what kind of dog you want? Where do you live (I mean apartment, house, etc.)? Half the fun of getting the puppy is the planning and preparation, isn't it? Picking out where his/her little bed will be, setting up the bed and picking out toys. And then moving everything when they decide they're going to sleep in bed with you, and their favorite toy is one of a pair of $120.00 sequin pumps that you could only wear at Xmas and New Years, and only got to wear twice. Are you partial to any particular breeds?

Howdy!

Rescue dogs are wonderful -- I rescued a great min pin a few months ago and I couldn't be happier with him. I totally agree w/the above post that you should research the breeds for the best one for you and your lifestyle.

Thank God you found us first. Be sure to check out the stickied threads in the Puppy forum, and here's a great article (found on the Breeding forum) that gives you some invaluable hints for choosing a breeder, in case you decide to go that route:
http://www.globalpaw.com/dog-breedin...ease-read.html

And here's a link to the Puppy forum: http://www.globalpaw.com/puppy-forum/ There's a great article on there about selecting a the right dog for you. It mostly covers selecting a particular breed, but you can apply almost all of the considerations to the purchase/adoption of any dog, purebred or not.

www.petfinder.com allows you to search for breed/breed mixes by zip code, so check that out, too.

Hey welcome to Global Paw! Glad you're going for a rescue pup. My own dog is a rescue boy and he is the most amazing dog I've owned. I adore him to death. I've had him for 12yrs now and adopted him when he was around 5yrs old. So he's a very old man now.

Good luck on your search. You should try breed rescues as well as your local SPCA if you're after a specific breed or mix breed and as someone mentioned before Petfinder is a wonderful site for people living in the USA.

Cass.
