Hi! Please Read.

Hi, Everyone!

Our family has had dogs all our lives, as many as seven due to strays all the time :>) - always at least two. I am going to become active in the Internet Dog communities because we learn so very much by turning to the Internet -- it could save our pets' lives.

I see "Please Help!" posts and do know that most people are very lucky to have wonder Veterinarians. The sad thing is, there are some baddies out there, as our family has found since relocating from our Vet of 30 years.
I could have saved my dog's life if I'd only turned to the Internet for some signs (for example, ours prescribed Rimadyl for symptoms of Canine Vestibular Disease (our dog stumbling drunk - that will be in another post to, hopefully, save somebody heartache). As if that wasn't bad enough, NO discussion whatsoever regarding possible side affects to look out for.

I am going to try to post as much of our experiences over the years
as I can remember - even a poll (when I figure out how to ).
Thank you for having wondeful communities such as this one!

Oh, and if you notice your dogs "sneezing" when you get up in the morning and come home from work? Look close for a "snarling" expression -- he/she's SMILING!

Welcome aboard! I think you will fit in perfectly here!

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog I know how it is having a vet out there that really isn't necessarily the best. My boxer/GSD had come down with what we believe was renal failure (we didn't know at the time though) and my old vet prescribed Rimadyl for him. If I had known about the side affects (especially for a dog that could possibly have damaged kidneys), I would have asked for an alternative, or gone to a different vet before we found out how rude she ended up being.

Sorry for the babling! Welcome!

Hi and welcome to GP.
Sorry about your dog. I guess most of us have had bad experiences somewhere along the line. It hurts terribly since they are so much a part of the family. Mine are like daughters I never had.

Thank You!
Hi, Rivsky
We have one now, for the first time in my 40 years, one doggie.
It's heartbreaking he does not have all his buddies, especially his sister, but we're too afraid to get anymore after our last three died so prematurely under McVet "care". We're not near the Old Fashioned vets now -- they're so far away. We always averaged 4-5 dogs, living well into their mid-upper teens, before we moved. Here they just want to quickly sell us Pharmacies to keep next to the dog food.
Once I figure out how to operate the scanner and upload, I'll put some pictures. (have one with six altogether taken some years ago :>)

Hi, welcome to Global Paw!
I read your other post earlier today, about finding out later of the side affects of the drug your dog was given. It made me realise just how much trust we put into our vets. I'm so sorry to hear that you had to lose your dog that way - it just isn't fair.
