Hello
Hi, I am new to this kind of stuff. (forms & all) I have a Male and a female Chihuahua, both were saved from agressive owners. The female according to the vet is sable in color and has no tail. Her weight is 9.3 lbs. I understand that according to AKC she is not considered a "qualified" Chihuahua. I am just learning about them. She had 5 puppies, 3 did not have any tails either. Is this bad????

Welcome to GP!
![]() Is it bad that they have no tails? No, since you already said they're not able to be registered and therefore shown. Not having tails shouldn't affect them otherwise. Was she already pregnant when you got her or did you breed the two? |

I got her on October first, went to the vet on the 10th and found out she was in heat, and my male dog had already gotten to her. So we just went with the flow. We will most likley be having her fixed soon. I am making sure the puppies will be going to a good home.

Welcome to Global paw!
Glad you're going to get her fixed. There are enough unwanted dogs in the world as it is. Them not having tails is just a genetic fault, nothing to worry about. By the way, if your Chihuahua is in fact a pure Chihuahua...it makes no difference whether she has a tail or not...she's still a Chihuahua. It just means she can't be shown (as TAD said) and should never be bred. I'd recommend you get your male neutered as well. Anyhoo...I'd love to see pictures of your Chi's. I have one as well, a gorgeous long coat male, Jesse James, who will be 17 this year. They're one of my favourite breeds. Oh and thankyou for rescuing your Chihuahuas. Cass. |

Hi, welcome to Global Paw!
![]() First of all I'd like to say good on you for rescuing your dogs, that's excellent! Like Cass, I'd also suggest that you get your male as well as female fixed - it would be the best thing you could do for both of them, and the dog community.I have a Chihuahua as well. Her name is Abby and she's 6 1/2 years old. I hope you enjoy being a member here! ![]() |

Welcome to you and your two fur-kids! Hope this wasn't her first heat. Would have been better on her if the Vet. had given her a spay instead of letting her have puppies, but since this is past tense I'll just say I hope all turns out ok and that good homes will be found.

Pix of my 2 Chihuahua's
Thanks for the advise, I will be taking it and having both the male and the female fixed. REALLY SOON!!!
We have had him "Choochie" for 3 years and he is 4 1/2 years old. She is also 4 1/2 years old, and this was her first and last litter. He looks like a mini pincher. Has a great personallity, a great father to the pups, enjoy's playing with them. She "Missy"is still very skittish and protective of her pup's. She does not know how to play with the other dog's, she lived in a kennel by herself for her whole life. It had taken her a couple of weeks just to trust me. I am her protector as she is still adjusting to being around people, yards and other dogs. I tryed to download a pix but it is to big, any ideas how to correct this? it is from the kodak pix program. any help would be great!!thanks |

I see them!
Both of them are too cute. But that puppy is HUGE! Are you sure she birthed it? Glad you're getting them spayed/nuetered soon. Was Missy from a puppy mill or something?I have a Chi mix named Oliver that I'm fostering. He's really made me love the breed, except for their barking. Missie, my Yorkie, has a predictable bark that isn't real yappy, whereas Ollie has a sudden, ear-splitting, continuous bark. It about gives my whole family a heart attack every time he does it. My heart hurts just talking about it. LOL |
