Arooo from a German Beagle
Hi everbody,
We're new at this list... My name is Carmen, I'm 20 and I'm studying English and German at the University of Tübingen. As you can see, this means, I'm German. My little friend is a 5-year old Beagle called "Lou" who loves to do man trailing (is this the proper name in English?) and Dogdance (Canine Freestyle). We also visit elderly and disabled persons to cheer them up by showing tricks ![]() I hope it's ok, that I'm subscribed here, and I#m looking forward to having lots of fun... Many greetings Carmen & Lou |

Welcome to Global Paw, Carmen!
It's lovely to have you here. I hope you'll show us a few (well...a LOT ) of pictures of your boy Lou. It's wonderful to hear you're doing so many things with him too. Freestyle is amazing, I've become really fascinated with it lately. How do you find training a Beagle to do freestyle? Is it difficult? I know scent hounds tend to be a little stubborn. How long did it take you to train him? Apologies for asking so many questions. I should let you settle in first. LOLCass. |

What a warm welcome
Thank you very much! Well, I've some freestyle videos here: http://www.carmen-mayer.magix.net/us...=2genagq30kw39 just click at the links on the left hand, the upper ones deal with freestyle, the one at the bottom is a funny Fussball video of Lou. And yes, hounds are very stubborn.... We are always training that Lou lifts his nose for more than a few seconds if we train in new surroundings... Therefore competitions are quite difficult to handle for us..since we are in "class 1" where treats or toys aren't allowed any longer. But it's lots of fun to train a rather exceptional breed in this sport. Through Lou I really get to know what motivation means, every day. It's difficult, but not impossible By the way, tomorrow, we are at a competition in Switzerland - so keep your fingers crossed. And if I make mistakes in English, please feel free to tell me, since I#d like to improve it.... Greetings Carmen |

Wow the feestyle dancing looks like it'd be really hard to do. I love the ending in the first video, with Lou giving you "High 5" with both of his paws, that's so cute!
