Hello from Las Vegas
Hi, my name is Thom and I'm a trainer with over 15 years experience living in Las Vegas, Nevada. I got my start as an apprentice instructor with Guide Dogs of America in Los Angeles, and while I was living there I also founded Sit and Stay Pet Services.

Currently I run the Las Vegas Canine Academy. Also, I raise and train service dogs for the blind and physically disabled, I train and administer the test for the AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate, I'm a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, and I'm a volunteer trainer for Canine Companions for Independence. I'm looking for a dog forum that has a lot of active members and this place sure looks active! I hope to be a regularly contributing member myself.

Hey, thanks everybody. You can absolutely pick my brains about the CGC test or anything at all. I see that there's a place to submit articles so I'll probably add a few since I'm in the process of writing a book about dog training.

TR, you volunteer for LV Lab Rescue? That's fantastic. I volunteer for a place out in Pahrump called A New Leash On Life as a behavioral consultant. It's great being able to help rescue dogs find homes.

Yes, I have a 16-year-old mixed breed female named Loki and a service dog puppy in training named Charlee. Here is a post about Charlee. (Some videos of my dog Charlee)

I have a small house with a tiny yard, so I don't want to have too many dogs at one time. I keep Loki as my pet, and every 18 to 24 months I get a new puppy to raise as a service dog. Because Charlee will be a service dog I can bring her to work with me every day. Lucky dog!
