New Member question about my 11 week old lab boy
Hello, I am the proud new Mama of a 11 week old yellow lab, his name is Hugo. He has been so awesome to have. He is sooo incredibly smart, we are going on 2 weeks, and he knows sit, stay, come, high five, and learning no very well he is great with the nipping he responds well to no, and enjoys his squeeky toys as a way to distract him from chewing on furniture or your hand. He will be 12 weeks this Sunday. So I think he is doing well so far. Anyway heres my problem..he is petrified of strangers mostly men, but usually everyone he hasn't met before. I read that I should bring him to the local park, and pet supply store, which I've been doing, the problem is he gets soo scared when someone tries approaching him that he will stick his tail between his legs, and piddle or fully empty his bladder. He gets along very well with everyone in the house, and people he has met along the way. The problem started the 4th of July when my nephew came over, Hugo was nervous when he came in, my nephew got on all fours and scared him to the point of piddling in the kitchen, after that he has been more leary of stranger, oddly enough my nephew resembles the breeder, but he didn't show any fear whaen I got him he was licking his face and seemed comfortable with him, he doesn't flinch when you pet him so I can't see abuse, plus the Mom and Dad were there for me to see, and they were very well adjusted and friendly. I guess I'm trying to see if anyone experienced aanything similar...I know it's very important to break him of this before he is older...oh he is also afraid of other dogs too....Im puzzled he is so good and I want other people to see that. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
