Hello Everyone
Im new to the site. I just got two puppies yesterday from a neighbor. My neighbor is 8 years old and they moved away but she wasn't allowed to keep her dog's puppies. I took two off them but i dont know how old they are or what kind they are. They are so sweet and adorable. I fell in love immediately. There are a few problems. I dont know how to take care of pets. So far ive put a soft blanket in a basket for them to sleep in and they seem to like it. They get out and do their duties on my floor but i try to get it up immediately. Ive seen some advertisements for training pads online. Do you guys think they help. Can some one give me some advice. I dont want to freak out over thinking im doing a bad job. All opinions will be appreciated

First off welcome to GP. For someone who hasn't raised a dog before, you sure bit off a big bite. It's a lot of work just training one puppy at a time, but two would be a major task.
Mine are wee-wee pad trained as well as outside. The one thing you do NOT want to do is let those puppies have run of the house. They should be in an expen with wire crate attached to the pen and a wee-wee pad down at one end and attach the water to the pen with the special water dish attachment so they can't turn it over or play in it. Take them outside for potty breaks and lots of play about every hour. Next they will need nylabones to chew on and also once or twice a week give them a beef femur bone each. Take off all the meat from the outside and take out the marrow from the inside, as these can cause diarrhea. Next make sure you feed them either home cooked meals (that's what I feed) or a high premium puppy food like Innova. Start thier shots at 16 weeks of age. After they have had all the first shots then you can enroll them in obedience classes. Don't take them for walks untill they do have their shots. I'm sure there will be some great advice from folks here and if you have questions, please ask away. ![]() |

Hi, welcome to Global Paw!
![]() How's it going with the new pups? It sure takes some time to get the hang of things and get a routine in place. |
