I am new here. Please let me introduce myself. I live in Tennessee. I am owned by five dogs. Two miniature Dachshunds, Leo (black) and Brinkley a rescue (red) Two Great Danes, Max (fawn) and Bree my new show girl (fawn) and a Border Collie that I rescued, Kip (Black and White classic pattern) I also have a horse named JR he is also a rescue. Bree is the only girl I have.My breeds are Dachshunds, Danes and BC's Danes being my primary breed. I have been involved in dogs all my life and have always had a goal to be a Breeder. A REAL breeder. Not a backyard breeder. I have just gotten my first show dog. She is eleven weeks old. I am so excited that I am finally going to realize my dream of exhibiting dogs. I am aslo interested in herding, earthdog, agility, and I love grooming. The only time that I didn't have a dog in my life was when I was about three or four years old and thanks to my begging that didn't last long! :-) I look forward to learning from some of you and sharing my experiences with dogs. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Here is a pic of Bree. I promise more of the rest of the crew soon. That's funny that your name is Breanna, I call Bree that name sometimes.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Brinkley weighs 13 pounds so I know he's verging on being a tweenie but bone structure is all mini. Leo is my big boy weighing in at 16 so that makes him a small standard. Leo has a very classical Dachsie look about him, you know the nose in the air and that beautiful square head. He's very serious about being a Dachshund. Brinkley was a stray found in the city and he's a lot more submissive and devoted. I love Dachshunds soooo much! They are just the best. I always say I love all three of my breeds equally but in different ways. Dachshunds are just so special!!!!

Ok, what is the difference between the minis and the standard Dachshunds other than size/weight? Is there any? |

The Dachshund Standard doesn't separate the two sizes in the conformation ring because technically there should be no difference. I think there is a slight difference though. The Standard Dachshund tends to have stronger bone structure and have a really square, slightly broader head. Minis have slightly rounder heads and don't often have the strong roman noses that the Standards have. Also mini's are said to be a little more high strung around children and different situations. This isn't always true though and really it shouldn't be. A well bred mini will be just as tough and outgoing as a standard.
