Hello from Vancouver Island
I joined two other forums but after reading posts regarding Goldendoodles (I know - stupid name) and members attitudes towards this mix, there was no way I was going to post. Was pleasantly surprised to read welcoming posts on this forum. I am the proud owner of Molly who I have had the pleasure of owning since she was 8 weeks old. She is now 4 months and is 25 lbs of pure joy. We have been attending obedience classes and she is amazing - very smart. Hopefully I will be trained soon. She is a wonderful companion and as I'm retired we are able to spend every day together and live in a beautiful area where we can enjoy long walks and she is able to explore off leash. I never imagined it would be so easy to raise a pup as I had expected it would be quite a bit harder. She was house trained within 2 weeks and friends were surprised how easy she was to have around and wasn't crazy like other pups they had been around. Long story short - she surprises me every day and makes me laugh a lot.

Welcome to you and Molly! I see you'll fit right in, what with posting pictures right away!
I currently have a job letting a Golden Retriever/Poodle mix, Bella, out in the afternoons while her owner is at work, and I also work on obedience and socialization with her. I've also been training her for pet therapy work, and she'll be ready to take the test as soon as she turns a year. She's just shy of 6 months now, I think. I posted pictures of her before: http://www.globalpaw.com/forum/dog-p...22-i-care.html Her coat looks similar to Molly's with less curl, I think, but her color is all Golden Retriever. Her father was a Standard Poodle with coloring like your Molly's.Looking forward to seeing you around! Again, welcome. ![]() |

Welcome to Global Paw!
I'm sorry you didn't feel comfortable at the other forums but we're glad you're here. You'll find that although many here do not support the breeding of mixes, we are all very much in love with dogs in general and welcome any and all owners of any breeds or mix breeds into our home away from home. Because when it comes down to it, it's the individual dogs that matter and that's what connects us all in friendship. I look forward to hearing (and seeing) more of Molly, she looks and sounds like a wonderful furkid. Once again, welcome to our forum. ![]() Cass. |

*Hello!*
Nice to see someone else from VI.... I'm also against backyard breeding of mutts and hybrids...but I have to say...the Doodles that I have met and the ones that I walk are just fabulous dogs! There's no point in making somebody feel badly about their decision to support backyard breeding "after the fact." Hopefully, the various dog forums will educate you for the future. May you have many happy years with your beautiful new dog! Love those photos! |

Thanks for the welcome
Really appreciate the attitude from those who responded. I understand the views regarding the issue of mixing breeds, but as I feel this will probably be my last dog, Molly was exactly what I was looking for. Also, I don't have what it takes to adopt from a shelter/rescue not knowing health or behavior problems that might exist. After checking the spca for the past year and seeing what was available (lots of mixes, shepherd/pitbull/rottweiler, etc.) I made the decision to get this mix. I have nothing but admiration for those who do and have seen many amazing rescue dogs, but it takes a special person to turn these dogs around. I simply don't have what it takes. Again, kudos to those special individuals.

Hello and welcome to you and Molly. She's a very pretty girl. I too am retired, but decided the small dogs would best suit our life style and our traveling, so we have two Yorkie girls, Zada and Azrael. They are daughters we never had.
![]() I will be looking forward in seeing a lot more of Molly and how she is doing. |
