hello from cyprus
Hi, i would like to introduce you to my boss Nook, he is an 8 yr old Samoyed, He has helped me (& still is helping me to get over my fear of dogs)I have always been afraid of them although I do like them, I think it's because I didn't (don't) understand them. I got to almost grandmother age & finally decided I wanted a dog, went out & came back with Nook, he was 17 weeks old, my husband nearly passed out. We knew nothing about dogs never having one before (cat family) so I really threw myself in at the deep end! Nook was very friendly, very hyper, very vocal, you name it he was. I started to take him to training school & he drove everyone mad, you would have thought he was being tortured with the noise he made, so it didn't last very long,
My husband takes him for walks because I can't control him, at first you could hardly see my husbands feet touch the ground it was more like watching him paragliding, now that he has got a bit older he only pulls for the first 5 min then settles down,(so does the vocalisation) our neighbours always know when he is going for a walk. Nook thinks that anyone coming to our house is coming to visit him & he would like to visit with them for their whole stay if we let him ( as soon as they sit on the sofa nook is right there beside them) We wanted to teach him to play ball (his favorite tennis balls) so we throw the ball he goes and gets it & I get it back out of his mouth)he's now got this one off to a tee, he sits on the floor rolls the ball to us and we roll it back except if the ball goes to far he waits for us to get it for him & lets us know if we are taking too long, he loves biscuits & the occasional naughty sweet they have to be broken up into small pieces, again he will let me know if i haven't done it right! and if we put it even 6 inches from his nose he will bark for us to move it closer..He has totally trained us well, hence my name nookspet, he hates loud noises, thunder, fireworks etc & normally hides. if I shout he goes to bed! he loves a massage & if I stop before he's had enough he will let me know, we also have 2 cats 6 months old he was very happy to see them arrive, they have now got used to him, 3 weeks ago someone gave us a 9 weeks old mixed breed puppy,we have named biscuit, as soon as he saw him he was delighted, they seem to be getting on very well, and it's nice for Nook to have a pal..this is why I have joined this forum I am sure I am going to need advice..Biscuit is a lunatic Elaine |

Hi, and welcome to GP. So glad to have you here. Sounds like you could write a book. I use to have large dogs when I was younger, but now it's much easier on us to have the little ones. Hope to meet your fur kids soon.
