Hello everyone, new here!!!
Hi
I'm new to this forum. I'm Cav_Sam_Lab. The reason for this username is that I love Cavaliers, Samoyeds, and Labradors. I have a 14-year-old Cavalier, blenheim, called Rosie. She has heart problems (don't all cavs!?!?!) and she is slowly losing her ability to walk. Her hind legs are already just skin and bone and she now has developed a limp in her front leg. In the future, we are undecided as to whether to get a Sammie or a Lab. I hope you guys can help me with that choice. Here's a piccie of my dog: ![]() This was taken about six months ago. Hope you like her. I also have a cat, a tabby and white called Gemma and two rabbits, Dalmation Mini Rexes called Milly and Molly. What dogs do you have? Can't wait to hear about them. |

Welcome to the site!
I have a 12yr old black Lab, a 9yr old Lab/ACD/GSD mix, an 11mth old Collie/Aussie mix, two cats (one 14yrs, the other 7mths), two ferrets, a cockatiel, a Guinea Pig, and a Russian Dwarf hamster. Quite the zoo. LOL |

Welcome to Global Paw!
I'm so sorry to hear about your beautiful Cav's problems. It's heartbreaking when they get old, I know exactly what you're going through. My own dog, a Chihuahua long coat, lived to be 17 and had quite a few problems in the end. He died in June last year. Be good to your Rosie and she'll enjoy whatever time she has left with you. Oh and take heaps of photos. Cass. |

Hi, welcome to Global Paw!
![]() Rosie is gorgeous! I have two dogs. Harley is a Jack Russell Terrier mix, and Abby is a Chihuahua. Abby has heart problems too, but luckily it is only minor at this stage. |

Welcome aboard. Your girl is stunning. I love her big brown eyes. Bless her heart for having these problems. I'm sure she will let you know when she wants to go to rainbow bridge. My little Chihuahua who was 16 years old and died this past Sept. had let me know weeks before that she needed to go, but I kept making her hang on till she had a bad stoke and did not recover.

She is such a little fighter. She now has lost control over her bladder. She wees and poos all over the house (she is thoroughly house-trained!!) it's just she doesn't get to the garden on time or she doesn't know that she needs to go. We are talking as a family as to her quality of life. She doesn't go on walks, she hardly even wags her tail, she can't walk very far, every step is a struggle for her (especially with her limp now). It's just so hard when they get old or ill. Had her since I was 2. Grown up with her, trained her myself when I was little and played with her. In her eyes, she's saying, "Let me go!". But her appetite in this part of her life has been the best than the whole of her life. She was always a picky eater but now, she gobbles everything down. She has got a panting problem which we think is due to her heart compressing her lungs. She's going to the vets tomorrow so I'll post what they say as I'm sure they will suggest the "PTS" phrase. I'm in tears as I write this. We've had so many pet deaths in my family, it's so distressing and I hate it when the pain and grief comes round again.

She's doing great. The vet has given her anti-inflamtre drug to try and help her joints in her legs work better and her heartbeat is slow and regular so that's very good. She now going for a short walk two times a day so she can get out and strengthen her legs. Very happy at the mo with her.
