Hello from Florida!
Hi all.
My name is Kay and I reside in Florida with my four wonderful rescued mutts. I am a photographer and a complete dog nut. My passions in life, besides photography and dogs, include anything nature related, music, my family and friends, and graphic design. That's far too much about me - you want to hear about my four amazingly wonderful mutts, right? Get ready to read a lot because I can certainly go on about these 4. Each of them is very special to me and brings a certain something into my life I couldn't live without. First is Simba. He is the one that started it all - my passion for dogs. He is a 10 year old German Shepherd/Pit Bull mix. I adopted him when he was 8 months old and facing his final days at the shelter. No one wanted him even though he was the only dog laying there calm and serene. My father and I brought him home and he bit my mother twice. I took him outside and cried on his shoulder while hugging him, thinking just as my dream came true, we were going to have to take him back. From that point on, he has been my neverending box of tissues. He has been there through ups and downs and always comes running when I'm upset. He is an amazing, beautiful soul. He has come a long way and now loves my mother. No man could ever fill my heart like he does. ![]() ![]() My next dog is Nala. She was my first puppy-puppy as I adopted her at 8 weeks old. Her and her littermates were left at the shelter. My best guess is Labrador/Great Dane mix. Nala is now 5 years old. She is a complete carefree goofball. She can be snotty when other dogs get in her space but has never disliked a human. She is just a long legged lover. She reminds me to relax every once in a while and just forget all of my worries. She never fails to make me smile. ![]() ![]() My third dog is Kiara. She was adopted from the shelter at 3 months old. We were "just visiting" and came across her. She was so scared of everyone else visiting that day and would bark and run away from them. When they were out of her sight, she would come back to the kennel door and want to be petted by us. We just had to take her home. She is now 4 years old. Kiara is an amazing spirit and such a broken one. The shelter found her on the side of the road all alone. We had come a long way with her getting her out of her shell and used to people. After we had taken 2 step foward with her, we took a giant leap back. September 2006 Kiara got spooked from our yard and took off. She was missing from September 11th to September 16th. We spent atleast $400 that week on paper, ink, and tape alone. I didn't work, I didn't eat, I didn't sleep. I was literally going insane. Long story short (and I will share the whole story later) we finally got our angel home. Did I mention she is an amazing spirit? She is just an awesome dog all around - she is SO smart. She is my little angel. ![]() ![]() ![]() Mufasa is my 4th dog. He came to use late one night. I'm still unsure of the REAL story but this is what I was told...a former co-worker had called me and said he found a puppy roaming the streets. He was unable to take him and wondered if I could and possibly bring him to the shelter the next morning. The next morning rolled around... and then the next... and the next. Fast forward a year and 3 months, he's still here. My best guess is Australian Shepherd mix. He's 1 year old and a complete lovebug. He's never met another soul that he didn't like, even if they don't like him. He's not the sharpest tool in the shed but he makes up for it with his killer headtilt. ![]() ![]() Here are some of The Muttlies all together... ![]() ![]() You can see some videos of them on their YouTube: YouTube - themuttlies's Channel Hope you all enjoy photos because there's plenty more to come. Looking forward to "meeting" you and your pups. ![]() ~Kay & The Muttlies |

Hi Kay (and the doggie crew!)
![]() I'm really into photography as well and bought myself my first digital SLR last year. What kind of camera do you use? Your photos are lovely, and you've captured your dogs' personalities SO well! I'm amazed that you got all four to pose patiently while you took photos of them... wish my two would stay still long enough! ![]() Anyway, lovely to have you here. I hope you enjoy being a member!! |

Welcome aboard!
You're pictures are amazing, and the dogs are totally adorable! I love the ones with all 4 dogs in them. I have to ask what kind of camera you use too. I absolutely love photography as well, but right now I'm stuck with a pretty low end cam. When I do get the money together to splurge, I want to be sure what I'm getting is worth it. |

Hello and welcome to you and your crew. Love the pictures and their story. I have three Yorkie girls. Use to have the larger dogs when I was much younger, but since I'm a senior now it's easier on me to have the wee ones.
