hello there.
Hi there, I have been a member for a while but haven't been on for ages or posted much.
First off I would like to congratulate Quincy on the great site he has made, hats off to you, not easy to get something off the ground from scratch.....well done!! P.S. A little birdy told me that it is Global Paws 1st anniversary soon. I was a member of another Dog forum which I have just departed from, after being there for over a year. I put it to irreconcilable differences. Hope I can contribute to you all, I have posted in a couple of threads, mainly breeding, and health. Cheers all, you seem a very happy crew here. |

Welcome Back! Yep I would say we are a happy group here! Can't wait to see you around the site. And yep I do believe that you are correct about the anniversary. I can't remember when but I think maybe in May? Anyone know?

Thanks again, Crossfire I see we have a common interest already, this Phantom/breeding prob is certainly an interesting topic...had me stumped for years, about 6 now, and to top it off the black one is continuing on with the tradition..blahhh, she has had 1 litter, turns 4 this year, her first litter was one year ago exactly and she has had 2 phantoms since...grrrrr is this a Lab thing?

Yes we do! Continuing with the tradition aye? Hmm, are the two girls related at all or different bloodline?
Never heard of it being a lab thing but then again my studies on the breed are not as broad as I'm sure yours are. I'm still not totally positive that silent heats aren't a part of the problem in some of the females affected by this. It has me really pondering at any rate! ![]() |

No totally different line altogether, I must be attracted to the Phantom lol.
When the black one did it first time..she still got me, had her off to the vets thinking what the heck was wrong with her, appx $300 lighter in my purse I find out it was a Phantom...blahh. I will not be fooled into thinking she can't get pregnant though, I'm a wake up to that one now. |

Awww what a terrible thing to have follow you!
With mine I was almost to the point of going surgical since it was going to be her last year but the AI went well and she actually took.Something interesting also to note; this particular bitch was the very same that 8 months after her last litter, I took her in to be spayed and lost her. She actually bled out internally, not due to any fault of the vet but unknown to us her blood had lost it's ability to clot. By the time she was coming up and around from the surgery she crashed. ![]() |

Ooh Crossfire, how sad, my sympathies. what a shock for the system. Lucky I didn't lose my girl in the spay, she is fine now, that was about 6 months ago.
This silent heat, you must go into some length and talk about this with me, very, very interested. |

Thank you. I'm glad your girl made it through her spay and is doing well.
![]() My bitch during her silent heats showed no physical signs of being in season at all yet she did in fact ovulate which was obvious from her levels on Progesterone testing. I really do feel there is a direct link between pseudopregnancy and silent heats being due to thyroid levels. Although levels may suggest their within "normal" limits who really can say if it really is the "norm" for that individual bitch? |
