the Bowie monster!
Guess I should introduce myself...
I am Kim, and i am the doberslave to Bowie. Bowie is an approx 6 yo neutered b/t male doberman I adopted about 3 years ago. He does have a bite history, but he has blossomed into a lovely dog and has obtained his CGC, is currently preparing to trial in Rally and Obedience, and we are starting tracking and drafting. Not without more than his share of health concerns, Bowie has had 4 surgeries for recurring perineal hernias (the last one involved a mesh implant), he has occult Dilated cardiomyopathy, he also has had 2 cutaneous fibrosarcomas removed, and he suffers from cervical disk disease. none of which have really slowed him down  we've tried and done almost anything to help him - he is currently raw fed for over 1.5 years, and receives acupuncture, Reiki and massage. he is still able to train and will continue with that as long as we are able to. about me - i am a third year vet student, and also involved in Dobe rescue, Rat rescue (i run my own rat rescue, check my sig), and sleeping. seems like the extent of my life. Ill post some pics of bowie later! |

Welcome, as u know I am knew here too. Thanx for joining us and for ur advice on DCM (other thread) know wonder u knew so much.. It's gonna be great to have a Vet student here for help...
Your Bowie is absolutely beautiful!! Hard to believe he' s had & having so many probs. But he is surely in good hands.. Thanx for the beautiful pics!! |

Hey, I get 4-5 hours of sleep a night when I am not training, transporting, studying, actually at school, working, or arranging adoptions
And yes, hes named after David (his ILP is Bowie's Modern Love !) And as for alternative medicine, I am a very avid supporter, but I am not a fanatic - I do not agree with some people who believe they are a cure all for everything, nor do I reject traditional medicine. There is a lovely middle where they work together - so complementary medicine is where I will be Until then, it's time for me to go take out that 8 lb pork shoulder for the dog's dinner tonight! |
