Question Hi from St. John's, NL Canada

Hi, Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jacquie and I am an Accountant and work from my home. I have a 10 year old ShihxTerrier, Mai-ling.. .....and received another 4 week old pup...who is also a Shih x Jack Russell.....the mother wouldn't feed her pups after 3 weeks so at 4 I just have to take mine home i have been terrified.......i have phoned the vet..they say its ok.....but if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please let me know.

Welcome to the forums! 4 weeks old is young, but you can still do it. Around 4 weeks, puppies start eating puppy food. You want to get puppy formula and puppy food and mix them together for a few days. I'm sure other members will know what to do better then I do.

again, welcome!

I just responded to your first post. Ok, so I see now the puppy is a very small breed. It is very necessary it eats every 3 or 4 hours and I would definatly keep a good quality puppy hard kibble and fresh water down at all times. Also buy the nutri-cal. If the puppy doesn't eat enough kibble you may have to go back to making puppy formula and add this to the kibble. To make a puppy formula: 1 cup half-and-half (milk and cream), 1 tablespoon protein powder, 3/4 teaspoon bonemeal (or 500 milligrams calcium) 1 or 2 days worth of dog vitamins (adult dosage), powdered or crushed.
