Icey, Thanks! Its good to see so many familiar faces! Wow, look at all that foster work! It's so rewarding though, isn't it? For me I also liked the change of faces too. New issues, new problems to work through, so many personalities. To me its like teaching school.
At first I didn't know if Al would be happy by herself. I mean I guess she still has the cats, but Topper and her were soul-mates. For a few weeks she was a bit lost, but we've become even closer than we were and she's always been my little pocket Boxer. Now I know she can read my mind. And yes... EVERYTHING happens for a REASON. I dn't understand all of it right now, but thats ok! KidneyBeaning, A pleasure to meet you! I've already been admiring your kids. Your Maddie is a spitting image of my Alley girl. Ritz459, Thanks, it's good to be back. It's been tough, but, it's OK. Things could always be worse. A clue on the bands... They both start with the same letter and are both one word names. PawNclaws, Good to see ya!! Thanks for the welcome back! GSD, You're a doll, thanks for not cheating!!! LOL! Darn Facebook... my other addiction! MazieDog, Real life does take its toll from time to time. GP was my comfort source for a lot of time and as things kept building in real life, I found that I couldn't even be civil here. Sorry you all had to deal with my tantrums. I'm still as opinionated as ever, but I think I'll be a bit more diplomatic now. calgal, It's good to see you too!!! Ummm... I'll be in Oakland the end of September for a couple of weeks. It won't be permanent, just a visit... but there will probably be more CA in my future. Punkygirl, Glad to be back, thanks. |

Welcome back! I'm sorry you no longer have your weims. Alley looks very spoiled with all that attention to herself. Since you've been gone i've had another new addition to my pack named Gabby.

Hey there Julie!
So sorry to hear about your marriage and Weims but you sound incredibly positive about all the changes in your life. Hope this next chapter in life is a fun and fruitful one. How's Alley adjusting to the single life? So you're on your way to Nor Cal (north California)...welcome! I'm not a California Native and can humbly say California is not like any other state I've lived in, it's really different here. From your avatar, are you enlisting in the US Marine Corp? Welcome back! |

Very perceptive Kendra, Yes, I have sent off my application for enlistment in the United States Marine Corps. At my age it's not as easy as when I was 17. But, I'm still trying, physically I'm in better shape than lots of 17 year olds, but, I still have to get the waivers. If it doesn't work out, I have a "Plan B" but, I would really like to fulfill my dream of being a Marine.
Alley is really enjoying the single life, I think. There's more time with just her and I and since she's used to every dog from every walk of life and just about every situation, she's always welcome to go just about anywhere I go, including work from time to time. If we have to be separated for three months during Boot, we've already made arrangements. And first priority will be getting back into housing with her during MOS school. I have always loved to travel and September will be no exception. I leave for Cancun tomorrow morning and I have tentative plans for also visiting Tucson, San Fran, Denver and Baltimore in Sept. Of course, Boot Camp would be in South Carolina, I'm hoping in October. The Sept. trips are mostly just visiting family and perfecting my "Plan B" plans, if that's what I have to fall back on. Lindsey, Your new addition is adorable. What's the story there??? Or is there a thread you can point me to? |

Oh Sam... I'm so sorry to hear that!!!! I hope Rugby is making the loss a little bit easier on you.
I've been wanting to be a Marine for so long now... and I've finally been given the opportunity, I just hope it's not too late. You never realize how old you are until you start getting turned down for stuff... ![]() I miss the Weims too, no doubt. But, you have to look towards the future. Regrets and second guessing yourself will never give you new opporunities. |

Julie, what made you decide on the Marines? Why not the AF. Course the cut off age is 27 in the AF. They have the best base housing and best bases all over the world. Just curious.

calgal, When I was in high school I had planned on enlisting in the Air Force upon graduation, but, things changed to huge degree and I ended up not going. I've regretted it all these years, but, everything happens for a reason. As a much older adult, I've gone back and looked at each branch and decided that the Marine Corps has what I want. To me it's about being the best of the best, being a Marine is unlike being in any other branch. Once a Marine, always a Marine. The Corps pushes you to your very limit and then pushes a little further and is the most difficult branch to get into. I could most likely enlist in the Air Force with much more ease, although the cut off is 27, I could get a waiver without too much difficulty, but, the Corps is what I want, and so I must keep pursuing it until I get in.
Icey, I just saw Jazz a few weeks ago, her owners were in town and she is an amazing dog, only thing more amazing are her owners. They have devoted so much time to her it is simply unreal. Jazz has been healthy and doing well although she suffers from a very very high strung personality and has issues that make being her owner very difficult. I should email them and ask for pictures from our walk together. It's like she's a completely new dog yet in many ways she's the same ol' Jazz!! Cute as a button, cuddler galore and a princess. Hey BB, ya, such is life, you have to take the good with the bad. I've just spend a week in Cancun, Mexico. I'll chalk that up on the GOOD list!!!! LOL! Lindsey, thanks for the links, I'll look through them. Tiffany, I've been active and very inactive, but through it all I still love this place for what it offers dogs and their owners. I insist that this is still one of the nicest places to send new owners and also to talk among some very experienced owners. |
