So Old I think I'm NEW again
Hello all,
I just logged in and realized I haven't visited in almost 6 months. I guess that means I'll do a little bit of a re-intro, especially since so much has changed in my life. My name is Julie, I'm 31 and I have one dog, her name is Alley and she's a 4 year old Boxer. She's just about the most perfect dog you can imagine and we live in an apartment in the city. This is Al... ![]() This is me... (on the far right, the one on the left is also a GP member, but I won't give away which one) ![]() Let's see... obviously to those of you that know me, you probably have got about a million questions. This is the skinny, but feel free to ask additional questions if I don't cover something. I'm in the middle of a divorce, and I live in an apartment, no longer on the farm. I'm about to move half way across the country, from where it's quite cold (Wisconsin... brrr....) to where it's quite warm and on the coast! (Specifics to be revealed later!) My puppers have all been relocated, except Alley, the two cats and Puchi the bunny. The Weims have all gone to be with some of my closest friends, including a GPer or two! They now live in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois and all doing exceptionally well. Hmm... what else? I'm back in college and about to finish up my Bachelors degree. I'm going to try and spend some time here each day, good to be back and look forward to meeting the newer members. |

Hi Rivsky!!!
The year 2008 has meant more change than I thought imaginable in a lifetime, let alone one year, but, I'm more than happy to have experienced it! I miss my Weims, they were my kids, and pre-divorce they were what kept me going from day to day. I keep up with them and get pictures and emails from time to time. It helps to see them so happy! Al is starting to show her age... Sigh... already. Darn fast aging Boxers. She's got arthritis in one of her front shoulders and some days it causes a little bit of a limp. She also has been having some dentition problem, including a broken canine that we opted to have removed. However, she's tumor free for two years now and I couldnt be happier. She's graying in the muzzle and she's gained some weight not having to keep up with the Weims, but, she's still good as gold! This weekend we dogsat and Grant stayed with us for a week. He's a 2.5 yr old Weim. Al enjoyed the company for a few days but she slept all day today after he left. She wears out a little faster than I expect and so we try and stay out of the heat. The doc says her heart still sounds great and so I do my best to not worry and over mother her. The last two photos all have people in them that I know have recently been through Australia. If that helps at all.... ![]() |

Hey Julie, welcome back!!
I've missed you being around here (again). I'm really sorry to hear what you're going through right now, it sounds like a total shift is taking place in your life. I can't believe the Weims are gone, but it's fantastic to hear that they're with lovely people. By the way, who are the GPers who are looking after your babies? Oh, I'm always curious... so bad! ![]() Ally is looking as gorgeous as always! ![]() I'm gonna have to pass on the photos too... are they from an American band? |

Hi Swiftwind!!!
Thanks, I've missed you all too. It's good to remember where your friends are! I'm going to pass on saying who has who for now. I'll let them glory in their new additions and won't take that away from them when they want to share. The Photos are of two different bands (or rather the lead singer from one and the whole band of another)... funny how you can tell they are band members, eh? One is originally from the US, one is not. If I say where from I may give it away. |

One more pic of me and someone semi-famous. He was pictured in the New York Times this week, front page of the Arts section. If you're at all into art, do be sure to explore his website. What he does is magical!!!! Kinetic Steam Works If you're familiar with Burning Man from the last few years, you've probably already seen some of his other work.
![]() But the pic is more to show you all my winter weight. I've been struggling with gaining weight. No one throw anything at me but yes, I'm trying to gain... I was up to 130lbs in this pic, and I've dropped back to 115 for the pics above. In the last two weeks with utter devotion I've been able to gain 5 lbs to be back up to 120. Ultimate goal is to gain more muscle, not just non-muscle and be at 130. Whew... I'm a bit of a perfectionist, highly competitive and I immerse myself in the task at hand. Some of you are giggling, stop that! But, since I've been out on my own I've really gotten into physical exercise, walking, then jogging and now running and weight training. Now the nutrition has had to be learned for me... good thing I had a healthy base to spring off of with all the canine nutrition knowledge. You never know when things will come in handy! |

Welcome back Novel!
I'm so sorry to hear what you are going though... but things happen for a reason... A lot has gone on with me as well (if you look at my siggy you'll see why lol) We are heavily involved in rescue work now, so we've got fosters all of the time. I'm glad to see you are back, and I hope things turn around for you in a positive light. It's good that you have friends willing to take care of your furbabies. I can only imagine how hard that must have been. Is Al enjoying being the only princess? I can imagine she is... but still misses her buddies... After all, she IS a weimy- not a boxer - lol |

Hey Julie. Wow, so good to see you back. Believe it or not, I missed you a lot!!
I'm so sorry you had to rehome the weims and I know it must have been the hardest thing you've ever had to do. I know it would be for me. Nice to hear the future is starting to look up for you. You said you were moving to the coast. Could it be CA. ![]() |
