I'm new.....saying hello!
Hello! I just wanted to stop in & introduce myself. I found a link to this site on the diabetes pet board & after checking it out I decided to join. Looks like a great place to be! Well, I am the proud mom of a 10 year old Rottweiler named Star (Star is my diabetic pet), a 9 year old German Shepherd named Jeffrey, & 2 cats...Lucky & Scarface. I am married & we have no children....well except for the furry kids!
I look forward to getting to know you all....I think we will really enjoy ourselves here!  Stacee |

Welcome aboard. I think you'll like this place. I look forward to hearing more about your dogs. How does your Rotti fare with having diabetes? Does he take insulin? I hope he's doing all right.

Hi! Thanks to everyone for welcoming me aboard! I think I am really going to enjoy this place! Seems like such a nice bunch of people!
Carrie, My Rottie (Star) was diagnosed 3 1/2 years ago with diabetes. She is about to turn 11 years old now. She does alright, its very hard to get her regulated for some reason! But she has never had any "bad" episodes. She never drops too low, her numbers seem to stay rather high but we have recently increased her insulin dosage to 30 units twice a day. She has been on insulin & a strict diet every since diagnosis. I recently started home-testing her blood & believe it or not but she doesn't seem to mind. Although after awhile she is like "OK mom....I'm not a pin cushion!" :-) She's a precious girl & we adore her. We adore all of our pets. My german shepherd...now thats a character right there! Such a sweetie & such a mama's boy! My husband has been in Iraq since last november & the dogs have really kept my mind occupied. I would love to post some pictures on here for you all to see. Is there a certain part of the site where I can do that? Thanks again for the warm welcomes! :-) Stacee |
