Hello!
Thought I'd introduce myself! I'm from the south, and I've got a horrible addiction to greyhounds, candy corn, checking forums, and taking pictures. I've got two wonderful greyhounds named Dazzle and Echo, and a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever named Julio.
I adopted Dazzle from Mid-South Greyhound Adoption Option in West Memphis, AR. He raced at Southland for a year and a half. He was retired due to a ligament injury from a collision on the escape turn of the track. Dazzle is now enjoying being a couch potato. He's very goofy and SO expressive! he is my constant source of entertainment. Echo was in a home for two years before she came to me. Her previous family couldn't keep her due to various reasons and had to leave her with a local pet day care center. She only ran one schooling race at Tri State and finished OOP. She is a wonderful girl. She's calm, sweet, very loving, and nothing seems to bother her. I got Julio when he was 2 months old. He's the most tolerant dog in the world. Julio is blind due to his Progressive Retinal Atrophy. It showed up around 4-5 years of age, though it didn't completely set in until very recently. Last February I found a lump the size of an egg on his neck. It was removed ASAP. It turned out to be a malignant thyroid tumor. Even though the tumor is gone, there's not much to do for thyroid cancer. Our vet told us to expect another tumor to come back on the other side within six months to a year. Good news- It has been eight months and nothing has come back yet! It's so sad to know that Julio doesn't have much time left, though. At least he's happy now, and to me that's what matters! Through my experience with Julio, I have learned that no matter how reputable the breeder, there is always a chance that you'll have health problems. If you see a cute dog at the pound but won't take it home because "it's from the pound and not from a good breeder," please reconsider. Or you could just adopt a greyhound! I could go on and on about my dogs, but I'll save that for another time. ![]() |

Hello and Welcome to the forum! You have some beautiful dogs there! So sorry to hear about Julio's tumor but glad to hear it hasn't returned yet. Maybe he will get lucky and it won't return at all!

Beautiful dogs and scenery too. Glad to hear Juilo proved the Vet. wrong. He will probably be cancer free and live to be a very, very old man. I almost forgot, welcome to GP.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
TinyAlbinoDancer- I've only met a few other people with Tollers. You wouldn't believe the attention we get at doggie gatherings! "OMG IS THAT A TOLLER??" It's pretty funny. Of course I get the same amount of attention with my greyhounds, only they are almost always hilarious misconceptions like "those dogs are hyper." hahahah. They're the least energetic dogs I've ever met. If anyone has any questions regarding greyhounds or tollers, please ask me! I love talking about my dogs. ![]() And, since you asked for more pictures.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Welcome to Global Paw!
You're in good company here, we have quite a few greyhound people on the site. I'm so sorry to hear about Julio, he's a very handsome guy. I'm glad you've still got some time left with him and that the tumor hasn't reappeared. Cass. |

I love your dogs
Wow Beautiful pictures. I am new too. I love the fact that you adopted the Grey hounds that have been retired. I feel so bad for those beautiful pups. You must have your hands full. I have two Cockerspaniels that keep me busy all day.
Nice to meet you. Rio&Nickysmommy |
