Thanks Linnie!

I wont be posting my next task drawing for a few days.. I'm actually supposed to be studying for an exam I have on Monday (and writing a report) but I'm sooo trying to put it all off!

I finished my report for college, so I treated myself to drawing!

Task #6 - Noses

(there was more detail but my scanner decided not to include it!)

I found drawing these noses MUCH harder than I thought it was going to be! I felt like giving up when I was drawing them because they certainly weren't looking like noses when I first started out, haha!

Aww thanks HEAPS Cass! I used to draw all the time when I was younger but never really continued after that. I really love drawing though, but I've never been amazing at it.

I did a drawing of Abby some time two months ago and I would scan it in to show you but my mum filed it away somewhere! Haha she just took it from me and said she didn't want to lose it! It was probably my best dog drawing, too.

Your art class has really given me encouragement to start drawing again! Thanks!

P.S. Your perspective task actually helped me to make a drawing of a court room for my report!

Glad you're inspired to start again. And I'm happy it's already helped you. It's amazing where perspective can be useful.

I hope you'll draw another picture of Abby. I'm going to be starting a tutorial on drawing on black paper soon (early next month) maybe you'd like to have a go at that? It's amazing what a difference a darker coloured paper makes to a drawing.

Cass.

Drawing on black paper sounds like fun, and I'm pretty sure I even have some black paper lying around somewhere (well.. it's cardboard but I guess that would still work). I'm currently drawing the Kelpie.. wow it's taking a long time! I've never drawn something this big before! I don't even know yet if I can fit his body on the page! I think I'm going to have to turn it into a head shot.

*faints*

Am I dreaming or did that dog just bark?

I wish I could draw that good. If you don't do professional artwork you should take it up. You'd be a millionaire.

Aww you're too kind, Anaconda! I saw some of your drawings and I think they're really good!

I think since I had been looking at my drawing for about 5 hours straight I kind of got a bit over it... I need to go back with a fresh eye and change a few things.

Very very very VERY good, Swiftwind!!! I agree with anaconda, you should certainly look into doing pet portraits in the future.

Oh and if you think 4 hours is a long time, try 10 - 20hrs. That's how long it takes me sometimes for a drawing. 4hrs is fast. LOL

You've done one hell of a job with that Kelpie.

Here's some extra homework for you (and anyone else who decides to join the class).

Do some sketches of your own dog and then set the dog up somewhere (on a chair, lounge or it's favourite bed) and take a few photos of it (try to use natural light not a flash). Then use both those photos and your pet to draw a portrait of him/her. Try to include just a little background.

Please don't just copy a photo. Use both life and the photos to help.

Have fun!

Cass.

Thanks Cass!!

Wow haha 10-20 hours, gosh that's long! And I thought 4 hours was bad! Although, I was supposed to be studying for my exam that whole time! Drawing's more fun!

Oooh that sounds like a fun homework task! I'll probably start that on Thursday since I'll be home so will actually have natural light (I can't believe how dark it gets now! It's completely dark by the time I get home).
