Kitten WIP

Well since most of you know I am unable to do much right now because of my ankle. Here is what I am trying to draw now. I am doing it for my mom. My mom raised this kitten from the time it was born since it was a runt and the mom just shoved it aside. It was as small as a mouse and she bottle fed it and it is almost 4 years old now. This is from a picture I took when she was feeding it. I am doing this with Prismacolor on Strathmore Bristo 11 x 14

Update

Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments!! My mom don't know I'm doing this for her yet. It will be a surprise. Well I had some time to work on it while sitting at the fair with our monster truck displayed for 12 hours. It got to hot at some points to work on it. Plus at some points I just was getting frustrated so had to put it down for awhile. Had a lot of people stop and want to watch me work. Had hundreds ask what I did to my foot. I'm not happy yet with the hand so have to work at that some more. I added another layer to the back ground but don't think I want to do much more to that right now will see when start working on the kitten. I don't want it to over power the kitten. But anyways thought I would show you a update.

Update

Since I started working on the kitten I thought I would give you a update. I think it still needs some layers and I need to get the stablo white pencil or something I can add the wiskers better and white areas. The picture is kind of blurry in spots so wasn't sure which way fur was going.

Prismacolor is a brand of colored pencils I use. I believe overseas they have a brand like it but it is called something else. These are wax based colored pencils. They are soft and work very well for me. Although I have not tried any others.

Update

Well my mom was over the other day and seen the picture and wanted to take it. So I grabbed a picture real quick. I wanted to still try to add more white to the white areas when I got the right pencil or stuff but since still have the cast on can't drive. I will have to do that at her house when I get the stuff. She couldn't wait to get a frame and show people. She loves it. She said she doesn't even care if I add more white she says it looks great now. She does want me to add some how the name of the Kitten (Cutie) and maybe the date somewhere. So what do you think? I did add more to the fur and did a little work to the hand.

I think it's perfect, love the milk on the chin and the little drops. Brilliant. The hand looks sooo realistic.

I'm sooooooooooooo jealous! I wish that I could draw.

i can see why your mum is eager to have it.
The look of baby innocence in the kittens eye and the all over softness is perfect. I would like it myself
