Ok I had to play around with it to remember but first you take your original image. Duplicate the layer. Take your new layer and do Image-adjustments-desaturate Duplicate that layer. Then go to image-adjustments-invert again duplicate that layer. Then go to blending options color dodge. Don't worry when the picture is almost completly white. Then go to filter-other-minimum and set the number to 1-3 depending on how thick you want the lines to be. good luck and I hope my directions made sense to you.

Thank you - they did make sense and I followed them step by step, but they didn't turn out to look like anything that you did

Thanks for trying though. I used to have a program that would make photographs look like drawings or paintings with one click. I can't find it anymore and have yet to figure out how to "make" Adobe do it.
