Pumpkin Carving - Here are a couple Dog Stencils

Jeff and I wanted to carve dog themed pumpkins this Halloween, so we came up with these 2. What do you think?

Are you going to carve doggy pumpkins this Halloween?

Anyone making there own pumpkin patterns?

I want to make new ones with Montana and Hank, but we need new photos, the photos we have don't have enough contrast to convert into patterns with photoshop.

If you'd like to learn more about making your own stencils from pictures of your dogs, check out these sites:

I wouldn't have patience for those. I didn't even buy pumpkins this year. I thought about buying some and just do some sort of painting on them but for some reason I wasn't even in the mood. I did manage to get all my fall follage put in all the rooms. I bought some decorations for the back yard for the dogs play date costume party the 22nd. Fall is my favorite time of year and I miss all those beautiful colors and tons of fallen leaves to rake up. I have to drive around just to try and find trees that are changing color. One of these days I want to spend fall in Vermont, up state NY and Main. That's my dream!

We can do about 5 pumpkin stencils for members if you don't have time or the computer programs to convert your photo into a pumpkin pattern. Just post in this thread the photo you want converted and we can work on it this week. I'm going to go to neighbors' houses to take picts of their dogs too.

We don't really decorate except for Pumpkins. Our neighbors go all out with the scary decore, but we wanted to carve dog jack-o-lanterns last year but had to resort to the traditional pumpkin carvers stencils from Walmart I hear you on the fall foulage thing....I too miss the fall colors, I'm originally from Washington and I too dream of seeing NE fall colors.

Ok, so I tried tracing the dog house stencil onto the pumpkin and figure it needs some tweeking....please don't waste a pumpkin on that one yet, I'll have Jeff fix it tonight.

I'm going to carve the Two Dogs Moon one in a couple hours. That one is the right size and proportions. I'll report back when finished, with photos.

Hey could you still do a stencil?? I am so confused on how to make one. This will be my first pumpkin carving attempt. Does it matter what picture, or rather what kind of picture?? Thanks!

Absolutely, we can still try yours.

The type of photo depends on how good at carving and cutting you are and also the photo quality and contrast. Good light and think black & white photo, since we need to convert to grey-scale for your stencil.

Do you want a Silhouette? Like the ones above. Which IMO is easier than the shaving and sculpting the pumpkin.

Let's try it and see where it takes us

Yea! Thanks!
I am pretty sure I can't shave or sculpt...at all, so a silhouette would be fantastic LOL. I guess I will try to find some and post them--and then decide which one would be easiest??

What breed is Mandi? Forgive me if I'm way off base, is she Maltese or Bichon?

Yeah, she is a maltese. I am having a hard time picking a photo--I have a lot, but I don't think they would be recognizable as a silouette on a pumpkin. LOL

This is the only one I could picture being a silhouette, even though it isn't Mandi....??

These are all of my pictures of her that are online (some..well a lot of them need to be deleted) I have to check my other computer and see if I have any better pictures.
