Some sketches I did
Last night I saw some of my old sketches that I did a couple of years ago and it gave me the itch to sketch something again. I STINK when it comes to free hand drawing, and even having a model is iffy for me. I've never really taken the time to learn how to draw, even though I would LOVE to be able to. But I whipped out a graphic novel/comic book thing that I have anyways and sketched one of the pictures in the book. Then to pass some of the time away this afternoon, I sketched another. (BTW, these are all comic type drawings...nothing real. I can't draw real things to save my butt.)

Sooooooo....here is the first one (a wererat):


And here is the one I just did....it isn't good, but it is good for me! LOL (I can't even draw a straight line. *shakes head* It helped me whittle away some time, anyway:



These are from the graphic novel Anita Blake Vampire Hunter: Guilty Pleasures Volume 1, and if you can't see it at the bottom of the pictures, the originals were drawn by Brett Booth.

I'll have to scan some pictures that I sketched a couple of years ago as well....I can't draw people worth crap so the ones I sketched were all monsters.

Here are the ones I drew two years ago. These are all monsters off of the trading card game Yu-gi-oh...and yes, I drew them on one of my homework folders. LOL When I was supposed to be answering my reading questions, I'd draw instead! It was much more fun.

Thanks guys! I started on another wererat sketch, but I'm not even close to being done yet and I messed up an angle for his hand so I either have to go with it and make it look a bit different than the original or redo about half of him. Aside from that, he isn't turning out that bad.

Those are very good sketches! Reminds me of when my son sketched alot. He was more into manga ( sp) at the time but now is
in university taking his Fine Arts degree.
Yours are very good indeed...ever think of making it a career?

Oh, no no no. lol If I took lessons and actually sat down and tried to learn HOW to draw, then that would be totally awesome (have no time at the moment, however), but I can't see sketching being any more than a hobby.

If I could draw it would be neat, though, because then I'd be able to illustrate my own comic books or mangas. I already love to write, so being able to draw too would be neat.

You don't stink, I do. I'm like the William Hung of drawing.

Fun drawings, does it take you long? Jeff whips out sketches and I'm so amazed with how fast the process is.

I'd say that the first sketch took me about two hours (broken into two 1 hour sittings) and the rest took about an hour each involving a lot of erasing, yelling "crap!", thinking "Is it supposed to look like that....?" and then finally ending with, "Thank GOD it's done!".
