Thanks Dave!
This time it's a drawing though... (only kidding with you, I know that's what you meant to say). |

Thanks BB and Rivsky!
I'm hoping to get another drawing done before my holidays are over (only 5 more days until I'm back at work! ). |

Thanks Paws!
Lurchers seem like awesome dogs! Collies and Greyhounds combined, if I'm not mistaken. |

Drawing is great!!
The hair looks so realistic!I am a little confused with the lurcher. I looked it up and basically what I got from it was it is a mutt of anything you want it to be grehound/saluki/whippet and whatever else?? So then is it really a breed? |

Thanks Sam!
![]() Apparently the Lurcher isn't considered a breed by everyone as such, yet. The gypsies in Great Britain and Ireland used these particular mixes for hunting, and I think there are people out there who want to refine this mix and make it an official breed (some already consider it a breed though). |

Great drawing.
They way I think of it, Lurchers are like Alasken Huskies...not really a "breed" per say, but most definitally a working dog. |

Thank you Ritz! Yeah, that's a great way of looking at it. You could also compare it to the Alaskan Husky, another working dog.

Lurchers have been in existence in the UK for many many years. As is said yes they can be a mix of quite a few different breeds and are bred for a purpose and that is to be worked. They should never be mistaken for breeding like Labradoodles etc, they were bred for a purpose and were and still are sold for an extremely low price, not the extortionate prices of so-called designer breeds of today.

Thanks for that info, Briarlow!
It's so interesting to know all that stuff. Well, labradoodles were originally bred to be used as a 'non-shedding' guidedogs for those allergic to dogs, but of course we can see that idea has long gone. |
