Questionn about Schnouser poodle cross

My neighbors have a Schnouser poodle cross and is having a really hard time with housebgreaking their dog, Comet, who is 16 weeks I think. He is fine at night, but Comet has a lot of trouble during the day. He will enter a room and relieve himself when no one is in the same room as he is. Comet gets plenty of excercise going for walks with his family. Are either Schnausers or poodles known for being really hard to housebreak? Is their anything they could try?

I've never had a schnauzer but my poodles were the easiest to housetrain out of all the dogs I have ever had.

At 16 wks their pup is too young to have free access to roam around. He should be restricted when he isn't being supervised. They need to make sure they clean up any of his accidents with a product such as Natures Miracle which will remove all the odor. Regular household cleaners remove it for us but they can still smell where they've gone.

They need to take him out on a regular basis and watch for the usual telltale signs that he needs to go until he learns to alert them. Take him out 10-15 minutes after eating or drinking and after a play session. Out as soon as he wakes up. In time, with observation, they will learn his schedule.

If they catch him in the act they could clap their hands to interrupt him and immediately take him outside to finish up. When he does go outside they need to praise, praise, praise.

All right, thanks for the advice. I'll tell this to my neighbors. 10-15 minutes after drinkin. Ok cool. thanks again. I've never owned either breed poodle or Schnauser. It's good to know poodles are pretty easy to housetrain.
