Pepper got a new home!
As some of you know, my friend and I found a stray chihuahua mix. We have been looking for a home for her for weeks now, since neither of us can keep her. After thinking we had found a new good home for her with my friend's friend from school, we were extremely happy! But it turned out they were horrible people. They said she was "Too big" and when we said Chihuahua, they were expecting smaller (Obviously an inbred deformed "teacup" like Lucy.) So we got out of there as fast as we could. Weeks later, we found her forever home! She is now living with a really nice woman, her foster children, and her puppy and kitten. She works at a childrens hospital and currently has foster children she is working on adopting officially. She has a pekignese/pomeranaian mix she rescued from the SPCA, and a kitten she also got from the SPCA. We took Pepper over to her house to see how she got along with the puppy, kitten, and kids. She did perfect! In the few weeks we had her, I have yet to see her play.. the first few minutes there she was already claiming Vicki (new owner) as her mother, and the puppy as her new playmate. She looked so happy, and it makes me happy to know she got a good home!
We currently are interveiwing a man interested in adopting Rebecca, the rottweiler we found. He has two female spayed shepherd mixes, and two boys.. We need to see how Rebecca does with the dogs first before anything. She will be inside most of the time. He sounds perfect. We are going to do an in home check, and I am going to talk to his vet today to see how much he has done for his current pets. (Shots, etc.). (I always ask to talk to their vets first if they have current dogs). Anyway, hopefully the story will be happy for 2 dogs..and we can go on our search for another stray dog. |

??? I thought you said (in a previous thread) that she was extremely dog aggressive?? If she showed the least bit of aggression towards a dog, I wouldn't place her with other dogs. The fact that the other two dogs are female also is asking for trouble. Seeing that I owned a rottie before, she was "iffy" with dogs of the same sex. If I ever place a dog for someone, I make sure the dog goes to a home that has a dog of the opposite sex, just to be sure they don't run into problems later down the road.Glad to hear you found a good home for the chi. |

We thought she was dog aggressive because she growled at the dogs through the screen door.. But my friend (When I was gone, I would never put my dogs in danger and even let them NEAR a stray large dog because we had two dogs killed by a stray husky mix we found years ago) brought her dog out and introduced him to her and she was wagging her stub, and they played for hours. We met a rottweiler at the dog park who growls at everything and everyone, but the owner said she has always done that...and she is not mean.

Ah.. Well, I guess it's just my preference then to place a dog with the opposite sex.
Good luck! |

I thought you said the Chihuahua mix was pregnant? Why would you place a dog you thought was pregnant?
I'm not sure I'd place a dog in a home that only just got a puppy and kitten. How can any of those dogs get the attention they need? I also agree with Icey, I would be extremely cautious about placeing a dog that had any dog aggression in a home with two other dogs of the same sex. You didn't answer my question in the other thread. Did you check if she had a microchip? Did you contact all the vets in the area? Did you contact a few Rottweiler rescues? You need to make sure she's officially dumped before finding her a new home. I mean how would you feel if one of your dogs went missing, someone found it and within a week of finding it they just gave it to someone else to keep instead of trying to find out who the owner was? Cass. |

This town is absolutely horrible when it comes to animals. Everyone here thinks they are "Chihuahua" breeders (most are just mutts or inbred). There are stray animals EVERYWHERE! Our ONLY SPCA is FILLED with stray animals. I cry every time I go in there. Cages jam packed. A news article recently said we have the highest euthanasia in California. We are one of the largest cities in California. There are just not enough rescues over here, and ones in the surrounding areas won't even contact you back. All rescues here are FILLED, completely filled and even over the limit with animals. Strays are running around everywhere. I see tons of dogs everyday, but we have a limit of how many we are going to pick up at a time, and thats 2 small dogs at a time, 1 large dog at a time for now on. It has proven too difficult to have a large dog and another dog of any size. We are not a rescue organization, its just me and my friend trying to do all we can for animals. She puts most of the effort for finding homes into it, because I am busy with my own pets to take care of. She knows that, I told her in the beginning of it that I do want to help rescue these stray dogs..but I have a busy lifestyle. I am managing it great I think.
We have Looked everywhere for this dogs home. I put ads everywhere, I put flyers everywhere (Around all neighborhoods surrounding mine where we found her, pet stores, vets offices, the SPCA, rescues, everywhere! I have asked everyone in this neighborhood about her. The people around the area we found her say shes been wandering around for a couple days now, I know she is the one thats been eating the food I leave on the porch for stray cats). I try hard to help animals, thats my life's goal. |
