I also believe people chain aggressive dogs more often than non-aggressive dogs. I'm not saying chaining is OK, I am personally against chaining but I have seen dogs who are not aggressive who are chained and are fine around children while chained. Montana was chained most of her life, she is comfortable with it and sometimes I rely on that method of control when other methods do not work.
Agreed! Chaining does not make a dog aggressive however people who dont take proper care of their pets often also happen to chain them which heightens bite statistics for chained dogs. I know many chained dogs who live very happy lives and make phenominal pets and working dogs.

For sure! When we went to go look at the Akbash puppies, the father was chained. The breeder lived on a farm, with lots of open space. The chain was pretty long, I couldn't even see where he was chained to. But he was as friendly as a kitten.
I don't think I've ever met a real wolf hybrid. I used to babysit for a family on my street. They had this huge beautiful German Shepherd mix. He was mostly white with patches of brown. Had one blue eye. I asked what he was crossed with and they told me he was crossed with a wolf. This was yeeaaaars ago. I think I was around 13-14. Fast forward to 2006, and we get this huge white shepherd mix in our yard that just won't leave. We all fell in love with him. My mom even said she wanted to keep him. We brought him to the shelter to see where he lived and it turns out he was the same "wolf hybrid" from years ago. The shelter said he was a Siberian husky/GSD though, not a wolf hybrid. So I'm not sure why the owners told me otherwise.
Anyways, I don't really think wolves should be crossed with dogs. I do not see the point in it. Wolves are wild, dogs are domesticated. Why would you want something that could be potentially dangerous, even if you are a strong owner who can handle it?

It's a status symbol for some people. They think it makes them look special or tough or something along those lines. And in other cases it's just plain ignorance. People can see a purebred Sibe and swear black and blue that it's a pure wolf or wolf hybrid. They just don't have a clue.

I was at a dog expo and a man was walking through the parking lot with the biggest dog I have ever seen! He was huge and white and the owner said he was half wolf. My grandpa's neighbor has a 1/4th wolf. He had to fight with the state to prove the dogs "wolf percentage" because in georgia it can't be over 25% wolf I believe. I have also heard of people selling "coydogs" (coyote dog hybrids).

Isn't a Coydog a Coyote x domestic dog?

When I lived in Spain I had a GSD/Wolf. Got her at 10 days old. She was best buds with my first son who was only 2 years old when we got her. She was the best natured girl and very protective of my son. We loved her dearly.
