Papillon (Phalene)/Japanese Chin cross

I hope this is the plca to post this.

Since i own a Papillon (phalene-she has droopy ears)/japanese chin cross I know it is not smart to assume that she will take after mommy (papillon) more than daddy (chin)... I have read alot on both breeds, and although they appear similar in temperament, she looks nothing like any of them. Angel looks like a bouvier pup!

Anyways, my question is...where can i find information about her "breed" on the internet? I really want to know as much as possible, but it is so difficult , not because she is a mix, but because she is a "rare" mix...

Any ideas????

Also, her being a mix, will it be more difficult to train her?

I'll save my other q's for the puppy forum.

Thanks in advance!

I think with a mix breed, one can pretty much just research both breeds involved like you said you did, get an idea of what each is like, and hope you get some of the good traits of both in your mix, and not stuck with the bad of both. With mixes I imagine they can vary so much, you never really know how the dog will turn out. That's just my guess. I bet yours is adorable! I imagine if you look long enough you'll find others with that particular mix, and see how theirs turn out, but still, yours may be totally different from theirs.

I would just research the possible breeds that are mixed. With mixed breeds there is no way to guess how the genes will get inherited, so it's best to just be prepared.

And just because she is a mix will not mean she will be stupider or learn slower. :3 My own mutt is an awesome obedience animal, lol!

I agree -- you may not be able to predict the temperament as well, but consistent training will work with almost any dog!

Yup, being a mix doesn't mean it'll be more difficult to train. You can only look at the breeds involved in the mix to work out roughly what it will be like as far as training and personality goes.
It's all a guessing game really. I would suggest though that you not bother looking for her "breed" because anyone breeding these dogs on purpose isn't likely to have much in the way of accurate information on how the dogs will turn out personality wise. I always find they would rather report the good and the 'wishful' instead of the truth.

I hope you'll post some pictures of your pup. I'd love to see what she looks like. A little bouvier? I bet she's adorable!!

Cass.

Thank you for your responses...
I also noticed that japanese chins are not that common around here (Montreal), most people dont know what they are...I have found some good websites on the seperate breeds...

I would post pics, but for now all I have is my crappy webcam and all you see is a blurb as she's mostly black and the webcam has very bad resolution...Once all that gets fixed, I'll be posting many pics!
