I wouldn't call it a hybrid.. just a mix breed. Figures a pet store would sell them. If you are looking for that mix, hop on www.petfinder.com and see if any are in your area. Please don't purchase this mix from someone deliberately breeding them. It's a slap in the face of both breeds concerned.. money making scheme on the 'breeders' (term used loosely), part. But if you can rescue one or give a home to one that needs it, then go for it. I imagine they are cute little things.

Sounds cute, I agree with Pug though. Don't go looking for breeders or pet stores who sell them. A mutt is a mutt and you can most likely find one at a rescue somewhere.

A reputable breeder wouldn't breed mix breed dogs, twinkle.
If you want to get a pup from a breeder, you want to find a reputable breeder. The reason is this....A reputable breed does everything they can to ensure the animals they're breeding are healthy and stable. They also want to make sure the pups go to good homes and are well cared for. They test the parents (and grandparents..as well as checking the history of their dogs families) to make sure they dont' pass on any genetic problems to their pups and they raise the pups well, so that they're ready to go to their new homes when the time comes. Petshops are supplied by backyard breeders and puppymills, which do not check for genetic problems (so you are more likely to get an unhealthy pup or one that will develop problems), the puppies are often taken away from their mother too early, are kept in cages (at both puppymills & the petshop itself) which can and does lead to potty-training problems. You also don't have any support from them, especially from petshops and puppymills. Ok...so what I'm saying is. If you'd like that mix check out your local shelters. There are many dogs and puppies in need of homes. Don't feel bad about liking that particular mix...just search the shelters (even leaving your name and mix-breed preference) with the shelters so they can call you if they get one in. You might also like to look for dogs that have a similar look but may be a different mix...petfinder is a great place to start looking if you're in America. Perhaps you might like to look into getting a pure Chihuahua or Boston Terrier? Both are wonderful breeds. I also recommend you search for reputable pure-breed breeders too. For the same reasons I stated above. I hope you find what you're looking for. Good luck on your search. Oh and, all dogs are cute, especially puppies. Try to get past the looks and go for personality and compatibility, because this dog will be with you for potentially 15yrs (longer if it's small and healthy). Cass. |

That just irks me to see people cross them two
![]() Here we have alot of boston pug crosses, they are cute but why? If people are going to cross them them stick to whats in the breed of a boston that being bulldog, french bulldog and terrier.... Even then I still see it as wrong.... Breeders (reputable) put so much into their breed as it is and to cross them is like a slap in the face.... Trying to produce the best of the breed is alot of money and time as well as love... |

Petshops only buy from backyard breeders and puppymills. Do NOT buy from a petshop. Cass. |

You should never buy a puppy from a pet store. They are exposed to so many illnesses because they are around strange people and pets all day. If a puppy came in with Parvo (or whatever) all puppies would get it, plus most pet store puppies are from puppymills. Puppy Mills are terrible you dont even want to know. It is great that you can rescue a puppy from a Mill but then again that keeps the Mill going. Especially if they are a mixed breed, that is almost a sure clue that he/she was a puppy mill puppy.

ANB2583 - spend some more time here, and you will see that we all care very much for all of our dogs, and we all love our dogs very much, and all feel that they are the best. I would disagree with you about the money well spent comment. I can only imagine what you paid, and I can list at least 40 reasons, why you could have gotten better quality (healthier, temperament, genetics, etc.) for equal or lesser money!

Re: Boston/Chi mix- i own one
I own a boston/chi mix dog. i did buy him from a breeder that i wouldnt exactly reccommend. looking back i dont think she took good care of her dogs...and i wouldnt normally buy a dog from a breeder like that. but alas, i was blinded by the cuteness. I do however, reccommend the mix. Louie is so adorable and fun. He is 9 months old and 11 pounds. Playful, really really smart. has the undershot jaw ears and eyes of a boston, but has a body like a chihuahua. I'll attach a picture of what he looks like (not my dog but another one i saw on the internet, i dont have pics on this comp.) so search around, he is an awesome dog. the 'breeder' i got him from said she breeds two litters of them a year because the people who have them just swear by them and love them. so they refer their friends and etc. http://www.hobbit81.com/gallery/gracie/gracie_profile

Re: Breeders / "Designer Dogs"
Hello,
I am new to these forums and find them very helpful. I am planning to get my wife our first dog for her upcoming b-day... I have been speaking to this breeder-- ** Edit - Please do not post web addresses to kennels** and am interested. Thing is -- all the posts I've just read here about mills and byb's have scared the heck out of me. I guess there's no way to be sure if you're buying via the Web? This woman spent 45 min on the phone with me and seemed very nice. Also, she is only selling her Jack/poodle mixes for $100 -- which leads me to believe she's not in it for profit. She spoke of the dog's parents, but I can't see them as I'm out of state - they are pictured on her site though. I guess there's no way of knowing - dealing online only - if she's truly a reputable breeder or if this whole web site is just a "front"?? thanks for any advice you may have! |

Its hard enough to breed one breed not to mention how many breeds this breeder is breeding think I saw 5. Me personally I stay away from any breeder that breeds more then 3 breeds.... Plus a good breeder if there ended up being a cross they would more then likely terminate the pregnancy, no one wants their breed crossed in any way....
If I was you I would do my homework on the breed you want, what kinda of genetic/herditary tests they need so you no what to ask for. Just because they are registered means squat did they win any shows, agilty ect. I think the dogs should be in some sort of thing. Most breeders I have talked to have done shows, even then you still have to do your homework. The best way is to talk to as many as you can and gather all your information. You want to do as much homework on them as they will be doing on you to make sure their (baby) puppy is going to be placed in the best possible home. ![]() |
