Labradoodle Calendar!!!

I was at Petsmart yesterday getting food and happened to walk by the "2006" Calendars only to see a labradoodle one right in front. I just couldn't believe it, I had to pick it up and look at it and not one dog looked alike. Some were real curly, some straight haired, some were big boned like the lab and some were more dainty like a poodle. Why don't they just put them in a all mutts calendar?? They treat them like a purebred dog. I love ALL dogs pure or mixed as I own one of each but it shocked me to see a mixed breed dog thus being poodle and lab mixed in with a bunch of purebred calendars. Has anyone else seen one???

I haven't seen one before, but I don't doubt you. And I agree with you! This whole "designer" dog thing is driving me nuts!

I suppose the promoters dont think about anything other than selling calenders. Doesnt particularly worry me as I love all dogs. Only problem I see is that it makes people more aware of mixed breeds being called new breeds so we then get back to the debate of breeding lol.

As I stated I love "all" dogs to ,but was taken back for exactly that reason of making more uneducated people aware of these designer doggies.

I saw the same calander the other day at the mall. Couldn't believe it....and like you said, they all looked completely different. I was disappointed at the fact that this mix was being promoted like this.

People like to cash in on anything that has gained in popularity. We just have to keep plugging away at the other end to get word out all the time.

The problem is still with the breeders. I wish they had a Shelby look a like calendar. Heck I already know of 3 dogs that could be in it I don't see anything wrong with the calendar.

Just don't get on why they want to try and classify them as purebreds when they don't all look alike, they are so different.... They go for a pretty penny down here but alot of the designer breeds do. Usually no higher then $500, just ridiculas as far as Iam concerned.... Don't get me wrong I love all dogs no matter the breed...

hahahaha you think thats bad i wanted to break my tv the other day i was watching tyra banks new talkshow and the topic was her favorite fall must have items and she went threw best jeans and hair accessories and her last thing was a labradoodle !!
i was inshock its a DOG not a fall fashion accessory !!

Tell that to Cosmo, they had a whole article about little dogs. I am not going to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one because none of the dogs listed could ever get too big to fit in a designer handbag :P

omg.... someone came up to me and was talking to me about studding out their dog labrador male as a stud for the labradoodles... i said it isnt a breed why would you do that they got ***** and started smarting something out and i just basically told them that it wasnt a breed and akc didnt accept it and they were breedng and were going to potentially going to have lots and lots of problems...

they were so pissed they left and were smarting stuff off the whole way lol

Oh these things just make me SICK!! the cockapoo and peakapoo were bad enough when they first started.. But now it is way out of hand.. Calendars.. you say.. OH!! it is all about the all mighty $$$$$ one guy on the web has dobedoodles $1800.. Now he is saying that the lines are champion.. so what if the sire and dam are champions or not it is still a MIX Breed!! Heinz 57!! Mutt! or what ever you want to call it.. They are saying they are doing it to have a dog that is ok for people with Allergies!! the breeds are too NEW and there is no way of telling this early in the breeding if the new mixed dog is going to get the type of hair that a poodle has..Please do not buy these type of dogs.. do not buy the calendars..

This is a message that I sent to Tyra Banks about a show that she recently did.. you should also be ashamed of yourselves for letting this go out on the air..How dare you!! promoting the breeding and selling of these NEW designer MUTTS. A LABRADOODLE!! SHAME ON YOU!! I really thought you were smarter than that.. I will never watch your show again.. I know that a lot of people on the dog forums feel the same.. I will also be writing to the station managers about this. If you want to do a show do it on the puppy mills and dog fights, do it on all the animals that were left behind during the hurricanes, do it on all the dog pounds and the poor animals just sitting there waiting for their last day there.. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF. A dog is not a fall fashion statement.. It is a life long companion! You should do your homework on these type of people who are making lots of $$ on these poor dogs and what can be done to stop this sort of wrong breeding.. these so called breeders are saying they are doing it so that people with allergies can have a dog or a dog that will not shed. this is simple not true.. these new breeds are way to new.. and there is not way to tell this early in the breeding if the puppy will have lab hair or poodle hair.. What about the health problems.. Different breeds have different health problems.. Breeding a poodle with a lab there is no guarantee that the dog will not have the lab hip dysphasia problems.. you better rethink your position on the subject and tell your writers and producers that this is not the type of subject that you want to be associated with..
