| Non-Sporting Group Dogs in the Non-Sporting Group do not fit the criteria of the other breed groups, or may no longer perform the tasks they were originally bred for. These dogs all make wonderful family companions. |

Has anyone ever driven (with pooch) to Newfoundland?
The Canadian province of Newfoundland is an island so if you're driving there you have to take a ferry ride between North Sydney NS and Port aux Basques NL. Has anyone out there ever done this trip with their dog? I'd like to know what I'm getting myself (and my pooch) into.

Sorry I've never done that trip either...but would love too. I would check with the ferry co. and see what rules they have about transporting pets and if the pets are crated can they be let out during the ride ( by you of course.) I'd be interested to know!

Hi Shadowkins! I have checked with the ferry company--they have a web site and I've talked to their customer service. I have a choice of leaving her in the car or using one of the boat's kennels--they do not allow you to keep your dog with you. There are scheduled potty times. My gut feeling is to leave her in the car--it's a place she is used to and she will have a very nice bed made up in the back seat. I'm concerned about putting her in the kennel because anyone could gain access to her. So I'm hoping that someone else who has made the trip can tell me their experience.

I think I would leave her in the car as well! You can always go and spend time with her there and just take her out of the car for a few minutes to have a potty break. Hope someone can be of more help and have a wonderful trip!

My Grandma grew up in Newfoundland, but I have never personally gone there, would love to though. Hope you have a great trip!
